What kind of relief on the buyouts does MIN get by having Weber on LTIR if any? I saw EF post that the wild don’t need to make the move until the offseason but it could be too late by then.

This is an off-season move.

Zuccarello isn't getting moved. Minnesota will not take away kaprizov's safety net. Also Zuccarello has limited no trade clause

I get that Zuccarello is the ideal candidate to move for cap reasons but I think this would be a mistake. He’s one of the few skill players this team has and moving him for a single year of cap relief would be a bad strategic move. He’s small but he’s slippery and is dominating right now, not to mention he’s providing surplus contract value. The Wild can’t afford to move contracts like that.

As for Weber, I’m not entirely sure how he would add to the cap space. I like to think I understand these things but I can’t see how it gives us more space. The other considerations are needing to account for about 3 mil in bonuses for Rossi and Boldy, which can’t be pulled from LTI if I’m remembering correctly. And don’t underestimate how much Boldy’s next deal will cost. I know we are talking about Fiala vs Dumba, but I think we need to think about Boldy vs Fiala in terms of who to keep. The cup window starts in 3 years, not during the buyouts or this year.

100% agree the Cup window doesn’t start until after the S&P buyout penalties are gone…which is exactly why I want Zucc traded and Dumba and Fiala kept. And honestly, I barely care about the team’s success until then. With Kaprizov and Fiala it will still be a team worth watching, but I think they might as well make the best of a crappy situation and continue to stuff prospects in the cupboards. I’m sure I am all alone here, but I would actually be shopping Zucc right now and move him at the deadline if I got an offer I really liked.

Zucc for JBD anyone???
