Description
COL-NYI Trade (based on https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3099789, https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/562847)
Beauvillier for Girard has been discussed a few times and is a good hockey trade, but other pieces needed to be added. In this deal, NYI gets a top-4 LHD and adds a couple of prospects to a shallow pool, and gains the flexibility to make moves on offense. COL gets a Burakovsky-replacement, a young LHD with offensive potential (replacing Girard), and a starting goalie to a contender that has no NHL goalies under contract next season (plus the obvious familiarity of Varlamov to COL). They also get out of a long-term contract on Girard when their top-4 LHDs for the foreseeable future are set (Toews & Byram).

OTT-NYI Trade (based on https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/562695)
Also a hockey trade. OTT gets a stay-at-home RHD on a cheap contract. Isles gets a top-9 RW.

TOR-NYI Trade
Many trades have involved Dermott to NYI. I'm comfortable moving Wilde for him to get the immediate help.

ARI-NYI Trade
Arizona gets a veteran scorer to help with the younger players. NYI gets cap flexibility and a Clutterbuck replacement.

Isles also sign Paul Stastny to gain a veteran scoring forward, Anton Stralman as a bottom-pairing RHD, and Mikko Koskinen as a backup goalie.

The Avs trade heavily favors the Islanders. Girard for Beauvillier + 2nd? Maybe. Everything else? No

i dont think i do it as ottawa. mayfield is good and browns not untouchable but i dont think i would be looking to trade brown for a prospect at a position of need instead of another RD

I wouldn’t do that Ottawa trade - Brown is a good middle 6 guy but to put him with Barzal is kind of messed up.

I’d rather trade Mayfield for picks or a player under the age of 26

Connor Brown isn't being moved unless it's a deal Ottawa can't refuse... which this is not.

I definitely think we could take Barron out and still have this be somewhat fair. I like the idea of us getting Kaut. Don't forget, you're getting Salo and an upgrade in picks too.

The Brown-Mayfield deal was proposed by a Sens fan. I thought it favored the Sens, but this AGM could also go without this deal. I've always liked Brown, he'd fit nicely on NYI.
Borocop a aimé ceci.

The only problem with dealing Kaut is that our forward prospect pool is already somewhat thin, so I don't see them dealing him unless he fails to crack the roster next year.

I suppose it would really depend on what else OTT does, but the loss of Connor Brown would be a BIG hit to OTT's forwards, especially if they bring in MORE rookies next season. I could see this deal, I would just need to build it from the opposite side to see how Ottawa fills the hole left by Connor Brown. (And I truly don't trust Dorion and Melnyk to do it.)

Tbh I wouldn’t do that Avs deal. Kaut isn’t anything special, and I’m rly not the biggest fan of Barron. I also really don’t want to trade Salo

if they trade zub it makes more sense, but if they dont they have mayfield, zub, zatisev, jbd and thomson on the right which is a bit of a log jam with not much in the system to replace brown at rw

A lot of these moves are fair, but I'm not sure if they work for you.

Like the Leafs Trade. A guy who's proven he can contribute at the NHL on a bottom pairing for a prospect who is unproven but has a much higher ceiling. Not a bad deal but the Isles are better off being a little patient with Wilde and the Leafs are better off keeping the proven guy right now as they desperately try for some immediate playoff success.

Or the sens trade. Brown is a really good player, but I don't think he's your 1RW answer and Ottawa values him very highly. I don't think Brown gets traded unless you're overpaying for him.

Fair trades, certainly better than anything I can come up with, but I don't think this is it. For you. As a Leafs fan, I'd take that.

Brown is a LOT MORE than that... He puts high 2nd line even borderline 1st line numbers WHILE being deployed in a defensive role 2/3 of the time (near 90% of production at ES+PK). 2nd in takeaways and 17th for the Selke last season.

This is like a Danault on the wing, these guys have gigantic impact.

You're right that he shouldn't be played with Barzal though.
