What the heck is that Ottawa trade, why would we give up a great forward that Ottawa loves, a top prospect, and a third for basically a defenceman that isn't rated very highly by Oilers fans that there is absolutly no need from Ottawa as we have Zub, Thompson, JBD and as a power play quater back there no room for him on the point as Chabot and Brannstromm are our quaterbacks. Why would we also want a prospect that we have no room or interest in.

NGL, the trades are very skweded towards the oilers winning. They are all terrible for the other team, they are all oilers fleecings

Buffalo pass, if you need Pysyk and Anderson to pay picks, not with players we don't need.

Lots of butt-hurt bottom-feeder fans complaining about poor returns for UFA bottom of the line-up players.

I guess you’d prefer 5th and 6th rounders instead, cool

Expecting to get positive assets for Barrie is the dumbest **** I've ever seen. And even the Lehkonen trade is awful, he's expected to get a 1st, similar to the Goodrow or Coleman trades.

Tyson Barrie is not a bad hockey player, that’s an idiotic narrative. So you figure he’d get negative assets, lol…. THAT make zero sense.

In Jan and early Feb he was the best Oiler Dman, by quite a bit. He got injured and then he wasn’t where he was at when he came back.

Let’s compare stats:
Thomas Chabot: 49 GP 5 goals 26 assists
Tyson Barrie: 49 GP 3 goals 20 assists
Offensive Dman having a poor year, not getting the same PP time as last year shows up well vs Chabot who plays a lot more. Ottawa could use a R side puck mover and as a point producing RHD with 2 more years left, he has a lot more value than you think. Edm has too many puck movers and needs more size, otherwise they’d keep him (if Holland doesn’t trade him for bigger defender, that is a fireable offense).

Lehkonen is not worth a 1st, that is fan talk. He is a depth player who doesn’t score like Coleman, who had a 22 goal season and the next year had 21 goals in less than 60 games before he was traded. Coleman was also on a $1.8 million contract and there was a bidding war for him.

Goodrow is 35 lbs heavier than Lehkonen (and a better skater) and most importantly was on $925 K contract. Lehkonen is expensive for what he brings, so there won’t be a big market for him. The max return Mtl will get is a third and a prospect. If Mtl retains they might get a 2nd from a team with multiple 2nd rounders.

Buddy, Ottawa has absolutly no need for Tyson Barrie, also if you think Barrie is worth a good player, a top prospect, and a third is insane. I agree he does not have negative value but Ottawa has absolutly no need for him. Did you even read my post, we have a puck moving D in Lassi Thompson that is a puck mover and a RD. And by the way Tyson Barrie would be playing in our third parring, because he would be below Brannstromm that is a puck moving D that can play both sides. You might as well asked for Stutzle for a 7th with that trade, the value is way off. And hey, Lehkonen, there will be a bidding war for him because unlike Coleman he is an RFA that can score and is responsible in his own zone, he will get a first or something close in value to a first, especially if it is a team desperate enough and in need. And your very lucky that Chicago fans didn't find this post because they would ripe up that trade. They've reportedly declined a first and a good prospect for Hagel, so you expect to get Calvin De Haan and a third for a good young player that's shouldn't be traded and has yet to reach Hagels level and a depth defenceman and a first, that alone does not get Hagel.

Yes, in points only. Clearly he is not close to the player Chabot is, but in a tough year, Barrie is still producing without a ton of PP time. He is a rare NHL commodity, a RHD point producer and whether you disagree and/or hate the player, he still has value. And the Sens do not have a point-producing RHD on their roster currently, prospects don’t count.

I don't hate Barrie, I think he can be useful if your coaching staff is good to manage him properly. Ottawa is putrid defensively so not a good spot for him, I don't think our coaching really knows how to instill good defensive systems at this level.

Barrie has value, some team would probably pay something to get him

I wouldn't pay the proposed package here though, not really close. Sokolov is not a "throw in prospect". He has 29 goals in 74 AHL games
