Would PITT be interested in Trading Marino?

from a VAN stand point would they like Boeser/Poolman for Marino?

I would definitely take Boeser, him or Miller preferably. I did Miller for this one though because Boeser wouldn't fit under the cap. Definitely would want him though.

Kapanen + a second for Bailey and POJ + Legare for Mayfield is how I'm breaking it up. I think that Bailey > Kapanen which is why I added a second, and POJ and Mayfield are just two different types of defensemen, but the Penguins need more grit. Legare is a decent prospect, not sure if it was necessary to add him, but wanted to see.

That Bailey/Mayfield deal is an interesting one. From what I can gather, Kap is a frustrating presence for Pittsburgh fans much the same way Bailey has become to Islander fans, so a nice change of scenery deal. I love POJ personally so I think moving him for Mayfield is a positive move too. POJ can potentially step in on the left side, where it's Adam Pelech and some tumbleweeds, and while losing Mayfield hurts, I think they just wind up leaning on Pulock & Dobson more and sign some UFA to play RD3 now. Legare's an interesting flyer to take a look at and a pick in the 55-60 range is nice icing on the deal. I think it gives fair value for both sides - Pens upgrade some spots they're not happy with (Bailey will be extremely productive if you pair him with guys who love to let it rip) while letting the Isles retool without fully tearing everything down.

You are out of your mind with the Islanders trade. That is an overpayment on a level never reached.

I don't really think so, Kapanen needs to go and both him and Bailey need a change of scenery, but I'd say Bailey is better. Mayfield is a more proven defenseman that POJ. Mayfield and Bailey both some degree better than POJ and Kapanen, which is why I added the second and Legare. What are your thoughts on why it is an overpayment?

Bailey is a shell of the player he was. He has THREE goals this year, had EIGHT goals last year and has two more year at $5M. They'd have to pay teams to take him. Mayfield is not needed.

looking at goals for Josh Bailey is 100% looking at the wrong thing. Dude has played 14 seasons and his career high is 18 goals. He's a distributor, not a shooter, and putting him on a line with good shooters has led to very good results in the past. His numbers are kinda meh this year because, well...you've seen the Islanders, I don't need to elaborate.

I think Mayfield is needed or a player like him. He would add some physicality to the defense. And although Bailey isn't what he once was, it can't be worse than Kapanen this year. Giving up a second or a prospect like Legare to take that risk I don't think is a huge cost, the risk is worth the reward. I could see Bailey thriving on the Penguins, especially on a second line with Malkin. I think he would bring out the best in him.

We don't need distributors. He's a bad fit and not even close to worth what the Pens are giving here.

Mayfield is worth a 3rd at best. The rest of what you're saying will sink this team in cap issues and just be a poor fit in this system.

I think we need all types of players. I think the best route is to have a diversity of speed, skill, playmaking, physicality, goal scorers. Theres been a lot of question about whether to center our team around speed and skill or physicality, and I think the answer is both. That's what the Lightning are, the Avalanche are, the Flames, and many of the most successful teams this year. Malkin also needs better wingers. I think him Miller and Bailey on a line would be an insane combination.

Ok I guess we just gotta agree to disagree here. I see what your saying, but I just view the values of the players in the trade differently.
