You look at that and you think the Avs give up Newhook? One, that’s delusional. Two, there is nobody on the Hawks that the Avs would part with Newhook or Byram. Three, you actually think with their limited cap space the move to make by the team with the best record in the NHL is to acquire a back up goalie that may not even be an upgrade. Four, let’s not all pretend that VGK couldn’t give away Fleury before last season and that he flourished on a goofy schedule that saw him playing over 50% of his games against awful teams.

Even if you consider Fleury as a significant upgrade on Francouz (which for the record, I do not), the Avs aren’t spending $7M on a backup goalie when Francouz has been solid for $2M. That would basically prevent them from making any deadline deals that would actually move the needle.
