Josh Bailey’s contract would be tough for Colorado to handle. He’s still a useful player and would be a decent middle six addition for the Avs. But at 32 years old, the potential for a sharp decline is very real. Colorado is going to be in a tight cap situation, and carrying an extra $5M for this year + 2 more seasons will be difficult if Bailey isn’t playing up to his contract. If NYI retained it could make more sense, but I’m not sure Lou would want to have extra cash on the books as he retools his roster.
