Bruins shouldn't trade Lysell for anyone other than a young NHL roster player (such as Chychrun) whom they would have control over. Makes no sense for them to trade him when their pipeline is almost empty.

Harsh overpays. At least on Arizona. Wagners caphit, when buried, is only like 900k. Moores is like 1.25 mil. Most you would need to send is a 3rd.

No to both. Not trading Lysell for a rental. That Zona trade …c’mon…buried those 2 cost 2m in cap space. Using a 1st to move them getting nothing in return is insanity.

Both of these deals don’t help the Bruins. Especially that Coyotes deal. You really would wanna give up a 1st when you have two very manageable contracts that will just get buried in the minors just so you can get Galchenyuk?

you are over rating a low 1st round pick who's only results are in the CHL.
His chance of being a player who even plays 300 games is roughly 40%.

Having said that, I think this is a lot to pay on a rental.
Hertl himself is a hard guy to figure out. He's gonna want 7 years that puts him to 35. Maybe 8 on same team.
I don't know I'd want to be roped into that. He's got a 5 year range I feel comfortable with on a new deal.
So that would be the first part of it. Otherwise just getting a rental isn't really helping BOS. If you are going to pay, get term otherwise you'll just be right back where you are next year.
Which is why teams don't pay an arm and a leg anymore for rentals

Lysell is pretty comparable to brannstrom in terms of value at the time of that trade.

How on earth does mark stone get brannstrom and a second, when he was twice the player hertl was, and had an extension discussed, and Hertl gets this?

This board has just entirely forgotten what deadline deals look like. It’s not hard guys! Find an old TSN article recapping a trade deadline. Deals don’t look like this.

I dont think so. He's showing incredible growth in all parts of his game and even in the SHL he was showing how relentless he can be on both ends of the ice. He didn't always get results, but the team he was on wasn't very good. He's one of the better offensive prospects Boston has had in some time.

Brannstrom was easily a top-25 prospect at the time of the Stone trade. That was a largely agree on consensus. Lysell is scoring at barely over a point per game in the WHL in his D+1 season on an okay team. 34th in the league in P/PG and 73rd in the league in total points.

If you genuinely think that there’s a comparison to be made between the two you need to take the homer glasses off and re-think how you’re evaluating prospects. You always make the same flawed argument.

I do. Know what I’m not doing? Just looking at points per game in junior hockey and making my decision based solely on that. Lysell is regarded in that same category as brannstrom.

Well of course you're not doing that cause when stats aren't useful to helping along your narrative, they don't matter. Stats aside, he's a good player but not even a top prospect. There's a reason he dropped to 21OVR from hovering around ~10OVR earlier in 2021.

Plenty of analysts have him pretty high, as frequently happens when theres stupid questions about coming to NA/leaving a European team pre-draft. Most mock drafts had him going between 11-17. He slipped, that happens. Kinda where brannstrom was taken. If you want to make an argument that brannstrom was underrated, or lysell is overrated, whatever. If you want to make the argument that he’s more than a 1st, and debrusk different, you can just save your time. I don’t have much interest in wasting time reading that.

I wouldn’t give up a 2022 1st just to bury a few players. Moore and Wagner are still serviceable on some teams.

dude a PPG average at the CHL is basically the prereq for even getting a shot at the AHL level.
Don't worry I get it, the BOS prospect pool sucks, so does the team I follow.
But I'm just tempering this idea out that somehow an average late 1st rounder is somehow un moveable.
There is only 1 way in which those guys become unmovable. And that is when you say, we are looking to the future and don't want to make a move.
In other words, I want to trade but not give anything up.
I don't think you get Hertl on a trade like that.
Having said that, like I said, I think it's an over pay on him. 1st, 1st prospect, and 2nd... is a lot to pay on a rental. I don't think it's in BOS best interst.
But it's not because the prospect is unmovable. He's an average producing prospect at this point, if they are looking to bring in a major piece, I'd say they would have him as an option..

If it's a major piece, not a 1 or two year rental, then yes he's movable. He's not Owen Power or anyone like that. However, they shouldn't move him for a rental. Move Beecher or someone like that.
