I love Olofsson more than most but I can’t see how New York can afford him after this season (him for Nils is only fair if it’s not a rental). Moreover, a majority of his production is on the power play and the Rangers need even strength reinforcements

Still. You can't judge on just 1 year could be fluke. Look at Campbell.

The market value doesn’t change in the upcoming offseason. Look at Chris Driedger.

For sure, but Buffalo has money to spare (still only $6M over the cap floor despite the overpay), and the only way they're getting free agents to sign is by paying them more than any other team would.

My thought with the Olofsson trade is it would happen by this coming trade deadline where the Sabres would retain for this season if needed, and he does have one year of RFA eligibility left. I don't think he'd cost more than $4M per, if that.

Husso should get a 1 year 2m prove it deal imo. You can't base stuff off of 20 games, could very well be a fluke.
Trocheck gets prob gets closer to 5.5, 6 should be max. Or else it's overpay

Yet there will be quite a few teams bidding on Husso, if he makes it to free agency. That alone will drive up his money. And i totally agree with you on Trocheck.

Big pass from Carolina.

Morrow is one of the best prospects in the league. Mitts has struggled in the NHL. I'd be more than willing to take a flier on him. But at this price? No. Morrow has been a deal breaker for Chychrun, Eichel.... he's developing at BC at the same rate as Cale Makar did.

I was wondering how long it was going to take someone to point this out.

Of all the moved I made, that was the biggest stretch to me.

How about Mittelstadt for Ethan Bear instead? Is that more realistic?

Sabres realistically should not sign another LD, get rid of Zadorov. The rest is fine I'd just take a year off of the 2 forwards so that we can resign our young guys in 2 years.

Why regarding not signing Zadorov as an LHD? They don't have a defenseman that plays like him, and one or both of Samuelsson and Johnson are going to be moved to RHD. That's not counting if they draft Nemec or Jiricek.

I think the only way any forward signs is if they get an extra year, plus the high AAV of course.

The cap limit will be $84.5M in 2 seasons, at least.

In the off-season, I could see it. As for the here and now, Carolina is stretched so thin at the back, moving Bear is near impossible. TDA is out around a month, and Smith is out indefinitely. They're really being tasked at the back, so moving Bear now doesn't make a lot of sense.

For sure on it being an offseason move and not one during this season.

I was quite perturbed when the Sabres selected Poltapov instead of Morrow with their initial 2nd round pick.

Because I was assuming next year we would have Dahls, Power, Sammuellson (that's my Zadorov comp), Bryson, and Johnsontrying in camp. First three probably make it. Id sign Zadorov over Gubrandson though as the RD.

I'd move Samuelsson to RHD, Johnson to Rochester to start (he has played RHD for Minnesota), and I'd either trade Bryson or keep him as a 7th or 8th defenseman.

It would be good on the job training to pair Zadorov with Samuelsson.

Typically, if you are asking a d to play their off hand, they are above average skaters, Samuelsson is below average. If this is my choice, I'm taking a shot at a franchise center with our pick, so the right d you mention, that might be able to step in right away, I'm not picking them. My reason is that we have solid left d talent, I would try to find a couple defensive right shot d, to complement the left d. We don't have a #1 center, we won't find one anywhere but the top of the draft.

Samuelsson's skating has greatly improved.

I wouldn't draft either RHD over any of Wright, Cooley, or Savoie either, but the Sabres may not have a choice by the time they pick, and Nemec is damn good.

To me, the top 6 in the draft are Wright, Cooley, Savoie, Slafkovsky, Nemec, and Jiricek.

Think Samuelsson skating is good enough to make the move, but think Johnson will make the switch in the long run.

He my ideal pair for Dahlin if so...man that would be an awesome top pair, followed by Power Jokiharju and then Bryson Fitzgerald next year.
