Description
Vancouver fans.....

I love you bb girls I'm just throwing this trade out there because Miller isn't worth more than Eichel. This is fair and you can trade Kerfy if you want next season for a 2nd if you retain or hey, you get a good middle six forward right now.

Chicago fans...

Woof, you get Mrazek after Flower is gone

Seattle fans...

You get the guy you originally wanted! Congratulations! And you get a second and a couple of B/C prospects

Sharks fans...

You most likely are looking to trade Reimer and you get a good 3 goalie at this time who is signed for a few more years and can develop into a good backup for you, possibly more. Plus.... bring Optimus Reim home

A team that needs goaltending where they are in need of a historically good goalie would be a good idea to acquire him. Plus with all that's going on with them, I doubt many players are jumping to go to them lol

I'd prefer to go with MANY of the UFAs over Mrazek regardless of contract. But when you add it that $3.8M contract for a pure backup...MAYBE if you sent a 1st with him. Certainly not paying anything for him. That's ridiculous.

I wonder what the plan is for next season when 5.6m Muzzin returns, Reilly gets his 2.5m raise, and RFAs to be signed. Giordani is the only big 3.375m expiring contract.
Miller is such an impractical and really unnecessary addition.

Hawks pass, we don't need an overpaid backup goalie even if he was free

Guys, Mrazek is a career .910 save percentage and he has a history of being a good tandem goalie. 3.8 million is reasonable for a tandem goalie. Because he's not playing well now doesn't mean he doesn't have a track record of playing well. If you view the UFA market, it's slim pickings and teams are gonna pay top dollar for marginal goaltending. At least there is certainty here and again... going to the Hawks with all the crap going on AND they're bad? C'mon, no decent goaltender is gonna sign there. And they're probably gonna sell at the deadline so they're only gonna get worse.

When you add a player of JT miller's calibre, it's never an unnecessary addition. Plus if one of the big guys goes down, they need another stud. I think he's a 1st liner in the NHL and the extra year is great as well. They can fit everyone next year. RFA's of note are really Kase, Engvall and Sandin and none of them should cost too much. Goaltending is probably the biggest question mark.

He played in Carolina behind one of the, if not the, best defense in the league. He's not good. Carolina fans wanted him traded when he was there for good reason. He's a slight above average backup goalie but overpaid to be a backup. What you are seeing in Mrazek now, is who he is...Carolina's D inflated his stats.

I simply don't agree with your view of his track record. I do watch the Canes play. I even said the DAY he was signed that Leafs fans would regret it. Link below for evidence. I was wrong about Jack Campbell, but I'm ok with what I said because he really didn't have that long of a track record and he's proving himself now. NOW JACK is the guy I can accept your premise of simply not playing well right now. He's had a few rough games, but that's because he's being over worked. The Leafs need a reliable 1B tandem...which they don't have. The real issue with Mrazek is that he's been consistently inconsistent for 5 years now. Playing behind the league's best defense has definitely padded his career stats. BUT if you're a Leafs fan then look at the bright side. Next year he'll be just as inconsistent, but he'll likely have more good games than bad...because that's who he's been for years. You literally never know who's going to show up on any given night.

You want a goalie that can win you a game if you need it. The last thing you want is a goalie that you have to worry about him losing the game for you. Being consistently inconsistent creates that worry. Tell me the truth here...when you hear Mrazek is starting in net...are you happy or are you worried?
