Im thinking we would just chase the 2nd round pick if we can get it.

Why would the Leafs do it? There is such as thing as salary cap.

Holl + Kerfoot = 5.5 million
Garland + Schenn = 5.8 million
So leafs take on an additional 300k for next year, essentially a wash, plus Garland + Schenn > Kerfoot + Holl
Motte + de Haan = 4.225 million and are UFAs who can walk at the end of the season.

Where is the salary cap problem?

Holl is going to take a 3rd to dump at this point has no real value right now Schenn and Motte will get a 3rd and 2nd on there own, a late 1st and Kerfoot doesn't help van like Garland does just no reason for Van to bite here, doesn't improve the team at best it's a lateral move but tbh i see it as a big downgrade

Holmberg and a 3rd round pick and you get De Haan half retained
