Young decent prospect, looks like there are not any with the Sabers currently all on the big club. Sami would add competition and doesn't have to play with the big club next year.

Sami kicked butt in OHL, played well as a top4 on the top khl team last year. Well rounded, physical, good defender, mobile, can move the puck. I think he can be NHL top 4 but we already have two prospects ahead of him Broberg (1st round pick the GM likes) and Niemo who is a physical giant our team has been missing for years. Sami may be better than both but we need to dump some salary to compete now.

This doesn’t make the Oilers any better.

Mostly tinkering, Griess > Smith. Hakanpaa should be a better defender than Barrie or we could try to sign Benning instead.

Buffalo needs RHDs not LHDs or headcases.

Our RHDs are merely

Fitzgerald
Laaksonen

Because everybody has a left d they can give up, somebody that can't Crack their top 6 but certainly would make the Sabres. Nevermind that we have two first overall picks plus three highly thought of prospects- that all play left d. Everybody has one. Nobody has a right d that can skate backwards that they can let go for less than an unprotected first, but left d?- free if you take a Cap dump.

Also…. We've already got young guys in Samuelsson & Bryson fighting for the LD spot, with former 1st rounder Johnson on the way & looking good as well

LD is probably the position of most strength in our entire organization

So maybe- MAYBE- if we really like Samorukov….
But like i said, most likely we’d just rather have a draft pick
