Trade Deadline and 2022 Offseason

Équipe: 2022-23 Sabres de Buffalo
Date de création initiale: 22 févr. 2022
Publié: 22 févr. 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
-I know, I am going to get ripped apart
-I am not sure if all four of Miller, Hagg, Eakin, and Anderson are moved, however, imo, realistic returns for them.
-I know Kadri, Hertl, and Klingberg wont sign here, but if the Sabres were being aggressive, I feel like its an overpayment for the trio
-I do not see Ruotsalainen resigning here, Sabres have been jerking him around like they did with Pilut.
-Overpay for Holtby to bring him in for a year.
-If the Sabres want to be serious next year, trade away the last year of Okposo's contract, I know he has looked better this year, but 6 million of the cap can be better spent elsewhere.

6 million cap hit while only 4 million being paid, a team trying to get to the Cap Floor will love this contract. With so many 2nds in the 2023 NHL Draft, Sabs use one to get rid of the final year.

I think you are being too generous on that Okposo deal.

Yeah, I would not be happy to see them give that term to Kadri and Hertl. No need to waste that cap space and also push Quinn & Petreka back to the AHL for another season.

Sabres will keep okposo and the pick. Honestly, they have been trying extremely hard to sell the idea that he's a leader on and off the ice, they've been selling that idea for so long now that I think they believe it.

Quinn and JPP should spend another year in the AHL. And it isnt wasting cap space, its acquiring actual NHL Talent, or we could just go after Mike Smith and company again.

Let's see, I don't know what teams they will got to but the draft picks seem to around the right values except for Eakin which is more a 6th I think also if he gets back from injury Hinostroza might get a 3rd or 4th.

As for Free Agents I'd probably be a little more conservative RD Erik Gudbranson RD Rasmus Ristolainen C Nick Paul LW Mason Marchment G Villie Husso , Mark Pysyk depending on how I felt on Ryan Johnson, Janmark and Hayden might also get signed depending

Draft - my first choice is probably Slafkovsky but Lambert is in the mix

I understand wanting a more established 1C, me too - not sure if FA is the place -I wonder about what it would take to get Scheifele.

Is that total or prorated? Worst case, we could take someone back on an expiring contract. But looking at the teams, i thought the flames would be a good fit for miller.

Eakin is one of those players a bone head GM will trade for, he shouldn't even be in the NHL

Eakin is good on Faceoffs it isn't much but some team in the playoffs might pay something for him but not much.

One never knows what goes into the decision making of GM.
Let's face it Adams was a bone head until Karmanos arrived.
How could he pass on Larsson and sign Eakin?
How could he pass on Pysyk last year when the Sabres were trying to compete?
BTW, I said this last year right after he signed Eakin, Davidson and Irwin.
How could he ONLY get a 2nd for Hall?
There are other GM who make questionable decisions. If Eakin has a great game when the scouts are watching, who knows.
He wins about 57% of his face offs and kills penalties.
A team looking to upgrade in both areas could be interested.

            I forgot to add.
            Look at this post: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/557464?post_id=3008300
While this would be a great return, as I outlined in my reply in that post, Okposo is no longer a cap dump, he is on his way to having his best season since becoming a Sabre.
Retain 50% (that was not a requirement in that post), he will return more than you think.
Not only is he scoring but he controls the puck in the offensive zone.
