Description
I made this based on the recent rumour that Elliotte Friedman supposedly dropped recently about how the Habs have been receiving interest in Josh Anderson from other teams and that he's getting mixed signals on whether the Habs management consider him part of the teams future, alas I made a trade that the habs would surely love and would make Leafs fans shake at the sight of this cap hits problems next year LOL, but! and its a big but, a way the Leafs could make cap room next year could be to ship out an aging Jake Muzzin, no he doesn't deserve all the criticism of the leafs defensive woes recently but there's an argument to be made that as he gets older and more injury prone his contract aint looking good either, a trade package of him and Mikheyev in the offseason for a boat load of picks and some decent enough prospects they can bury in the minors for a few seasons wouldn't be such a bad idea, and at least for those few years it erases Rielly's raise on the cap AND gives the Leafs room to re-sign ALL of Sandin, Liljegren, Kase, Lyubushkin, and Campbell, keeping their defensive core intact for years to come. WHY NOT!?! it surely sets up the Leafs for playoff success, and as for the Habs in the meantime, they get some decent players to do with as they please as they work on a rebuild after the disaster of a season this year has been, everyone wins in my eyes to be honest

Supposedly Anderson and Gally are both on the "untradable" list

If Leafs nation could stop drolling on Anderson, that would be nice.

This is a terrible trade offer, Leaf fans will say they don't want someone and then under value them in AGMs when they pretend to trade for them tears of joy

BAHAHAHAHA why would any GM accept this return for Anderson? I’m not sure if you’re aware, but the habs are rebuilding.

anderson is one of those players that is more valuable to mtl than he is to other teams. unless a team overpays, you aren't getting him

Anderson is a valuable player. His cap hit is high in relation to his contributions, but you can have a bad contract and still be of value to the lineup. Less an issue if that contract isn't preventing other moves against the cap.

Any scenario where Montreal is retaining or getting low value in a trade, simply isn't reasonable.

Personally hoping to see continued deployment and developing chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield. He's the perfect bookend to play opposite of Caufield if he can contribute more to production.

Johnny boy. Your narrative is not logical. First, no reporter knows what GMs say to another. Anderson and is contract is not good at all....especially for the cap strapped Leafs. The Leafs certainly aren't trading two NHL Dmen at the deadline and getting none in return. Muzzin has a NTC....he and has contract isn't/can 't be traded.

Oh sorry, Anderson now has one more point than engvall, for 5x the cost. While being much worse defensively and not able to play C

You don't quite understand hockey do you? Lol. Usually when you say "outscore" you're referring to goals, no points. Also Anderson has played on a much worse team and also has fewer games. He also (until recently) hasn't had much pp time. He will never be a pp guy. Either way you're comparing a 4th liner to a guy who can score more and in the right situation can move up and down your lineup. I personally wouldn't trade for Anderson unless you get the habs to retain but either way your comment makes no sense. And cap aside Anderson would probably be awesome on a team like the leafs. Wouldnt be surprised if he had new personal best in goals (27 was his best)

He would definitely help the leafs in improving their rush offence, but that's about it. Despite what you have randomly said, the truth is he can't really move up and down your lineup. He can't play on the leafs 1st and 3rd line. Not based on how they are used. I guess you could put the $5 million guy on the 4th line, but that line would be a major liability defensively. He most likely only works on the 2nd line, but that definitely means sheltering that line, because again, defensive liability (maybe you take the production over that). And honestly he's a good player and you have to like the size with that speed, but that contract is dreadful for that production and the inconsistency he shows is wild.

Yea, im comparing a guy who plays on a top line with a 4th liner and he has one more point than that guy despite being hilariously more expensive.
What a terrible contract

Its actually a decent contract for what he brings. A 20 plus goal scorer who plays on teams that can't score goals. But I assume you just hate the habs so you're opinion is a little to bias for me

Hes score more than 19 goals once, has never hit 50 points and is terrible defensively. His contract is bad, but i guess you're a habs fan so talking about bias for a habs player is hilarious

27 three years ago. Injured then coming off major surgery two years ago. 17 over 52 (pro rated 26 goals) last seaso then 10 in 39 in a bad year this year (pro rated 21 goals). And those are 99% 5 on 5 goals because he doesnt get pp time. So ya, he is a 20 goal scorer on teams who don't score goals.

Except for the part about actually scoring 20 goals.
Unless you wanna call matthews a 60 goal scorer.
This is a lot of energy defending a guy who's producing at a 4th liner level for a good team

Well its not his fault they only played 52 games last year because of Covid is it? Lol. You have no clue about this league do you? Just stick in your little Toronto bubble bud.

Every team played that many games and he still got less points than jason spezza. You know, a 4th liner in a good team.

Lol. You do realize that team lost to the habs in the playoffs right? Anderson was a key to that series as well. Pretty damn good 4th liner lol. Too bad yours didn't show up.
