Not every cap dump requires inflating the trade. Especially an expiring contract to offset salary when the offer is already good value.

me too, I would play Jack Johnson over Chiarot...he cant skate, he cant pass, he can exit his zone, he got hype for the playoffs last years bc he got away with a lot of cross checking in his own zone and was labelled a warrior.

Didn't mean to imply he was. That was OP's determination, I was just speaking generally. I prefer to refer to players that are included only for cap purposes as offsets when they don't impact the value of a trade one way or another.

I agree, bc when people say cap dump on this site they just automatically make that player now worthless or with negative value. Would Murray be needed in a trade for cap reasons, probably, is Murray bad with 0 value around the league, absolutely not.

If a team did take him on bc for cap reasons, they could easily flip him for a positive asset. Big different in "Cap Dump" vs "Cap reasons" like you mentioned
