Wouldn’t Marchand pick Pastrnak as one of his line mates?

Arizona passes not enough quality there for Jakob Chychrun, Try more like 7 x $7,500,000 for Tomas Hertl and the cap isn't increasing no $2,000,000 this summer. It's either $1,000,000 or possibly no increase at all.

He might to play with his brother. But that is the only (weak) reason I could see it happening. I don't see MN having much interest in him though due to their cap next year.

I think the bruins upper limit is set at 9.5. Somewhere around there.

Why would bergeron retire?

He'll be 37 before next season, has had a nagging groin injury for years, just narrowly missed yet another concussion, and the Bruins are having a disappointing year and may not have the cap space or trade capital to significantly improve next season for another Cup run. All fine reasons. With that being said, I don't expect him to retire. I'm just mocking a possible re-tool if he does. Hypotheticals are a thing you know...

You may be right about the Chychrun deal. Hard to find fair value with what the Bruins have to offer without bankrupting the system.

And you're probably right about the cap, but no hard number has even been floated at this point.

But you are entirely wrong about the contract comparison. No 28-year-old player in their right mind would take 7x$7.5MM over 8x$7MM. If the Bs can acquire his UFA rights and offer him that 8th year, they can drive the AAV down. 8x7 nets him $56MM. $7x7.5 nets him $52.5MM and he's then gambling that at age 35 he can find a contract (at all) that pays him $3.5MM. No way. If Hertl's market value truly is a $7.5MM AAV, that eighth years allows the price to go down to at least $7MM/year if not $6.6MM or so if Hertl plans to retire at the end of the contract.

Foligno doesn't have to approve a trade to half the league as soon as July 1st hits

Hypotheticals are a thing. So are descriptions. Yours didnt’ make it seem like it was a fringe possibility, but rather a likely scenario. That was my confusion.

Krejci didn’t retire. I’ll need a better answer.
