Easy no from Habs. No interest in those dumps from Edmonton

Anderson we will gladly keep and Savard sucks but rather let his contract run out a bit more as opposed to picking up scraps and « giving away » anderson

It amazes me how every player involved in a trade is a cap dump

I agree and I don't believe Barrie or Savard are cap dumps either. Those players are having down seasons but still have lots of value to the right team.

Anderson is a nearly 28-year-old who has scored a mere 91 career goals in the NHL. That works out to just 20 per 82 games played. His 156 points works out to just 36 per 82. The trouble is, he's injury prone, so playing a full season is rare for him - just once in his 5 "full" seasons has he played every game. If you look at his production over those 5 seasons, he scored an average of just 16 goals and 27 points per season.

I know what you're thinking now - 'yeah, but he's built for the playoffs'. Not so fast - in his past 32 playoff games he produced just 6 goals and 3 assists... that's a disappearing act if ever I've seen one.

Now consider he's getting $5.5M for the next 5 years, and him prime years are likely in the rearview mirror. If you really think a 16-goal, 27-point winger is worth that contract, then I think our conversation is over.

All you have to do is look at Savard's 5v5 on-ice goal numbers recently. He was 15-41 in Columbus before being traded to Tampa, where he promptly posted 2-10. This year he's 21-40 in Montreal - a big part of the reason that team is so bad. He's lost a step, honestly I'm not sure he's an NHL defenseman anymore, he certainly can't keep his head above water in the top-4. And $3.5M for 3 more years just can't be justified for a slowing 31 year old 3rd pairing defenseman.

I wouldn't take that contract for free let alone pay good assets to get it. But you know what they say - there's a sucker born every minute.

You're crazy, he got signed because of his versatility and his speed for his size. Hes a rare breed and many teams wish for someone like him. I do admit he was overpaid 0.5-1M, but that doesnt mean he has negative value.

Here's a great comp - another guy with speed and size: http://naturalstattrick.com/playercompare.php?fromseason=20192020&thruseason=20212022&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&stdoi=std&rate=y&p1=8476981&p2=8475178&loc=B&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410&lines=single
Note that this is a 3 season view at 5v5 only.

Anderson is useless on the powerplay anyhow: http://naturalstattrick.com/playercompare.php?fromseason=20192020&thruseason=20212022&stype=2&sit=5v4&score=all&stdoi=std&rate=n&p1=8476981&p2=8475178&loc=B&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410&lines=single

Keep him. He's negative value in a cap league.

The fact that his numbers actually are comparable to Kassian shows you've got some serious blinders on for this "rare breed".

If you didnt know, Anderson is playing on the team with the 2nd lowest GF in the league while being last, and is still 4 years younger while projected to get 10 points more than your aging Kassian. If you want to ignore the fact Kassian is on IR, hes playing with much better players than Anderson. Take those external factors into account and maybe you'll realise that you cant trade a cap dump for a high value asset like Anderson.

Read up on it, it wont take too long wink

Im sorry but you misread my post. I didn’t say they were cap dumps…I say they were just dumps. Edmonton has the most unappealing roster in the league. Their bottom 6 and bottom 4 D are awful

What "versatility" does Anderson bring? He seems pretty one-dimensional to me. He sucks on the PP and he doesn't PK. He doesn't play center. What are you imagining he brings that looks remotely like "versatility"?

Speaking of reading.

I guess you must have "missed" that the stats provided to you were from the last three years. Last I checked MON hasn't been in last place for 3 years nor has Kassian been on IR that long.

Keep him. Nobody wants a 35 point winger who is making $5.5M long term. He's not worth his contract. Own it.
