Why on earth is TO giving up the best player, best defenceman and a 1st in the Jets trade? And that Ritchie trade is an overpay as well.

Neither are really any upgrades over Holl. I never get less annoyed to see so many fans on here wanting to throw Holl away because he's carried by Muzzin only to replace him with someone who at best will continue to be carried by Muzzin and at worst and more likely, be less effective while being carried by Muzzin.

If we aren't getting someone to remove some of the burden on Muzzin (specifically, puck moving which he hasn't been nearly as good at this year), what's the point of doing anything? Apart from adding some big vet to battle for the 6/7/8 spot on defence. Making sure we never again see Biega or Dahlstrom.

i'd say demelo is a defensive upgrade on Holl and would allow some flexibility on that right side

as long as he was well priced, he's probably the best mid range defender available

No chance Winnipeg gives up those two players and retains when the only needed or wanted piece coming back to Winnipeg is the 1st.

What? Copp is better than Kerfoot and Dillon is much better than Dermott.

It's always funny how good players on TO are never as good as players from other teams. If Kerfoot and Dermott are so bad, why is their team better than Winnipeg's by a very wide margins?

There’s a decent chance Dillon gets moved in the summer but it would likely be for a forward with term or a couple draft picks.

They’re not saying the jets have a better team. Two players don’t make a team. There are much more factors that play into a teams success. They’re right in saying Dillon is better than Dermott and Copp is better than kerfoot. Doesn’t mean Winnipeg is a better team.

Not at all, he’s been steady Eddie. In fact he’s been one of winnipegs better dman. That’s not saying a lot, but he’s been super solid. He’s a great PKer, he’s a leader and will stand up for his teammates at any given moment and he’s a perfect shutdown dman for the 2nd pair.

If jets were giving up Copp and Dillon, it would take a different package than this. They’d look to get 2 2nds back for Dillon as he’s been better than he was in Washington. Copp will fetch a first as well. Jets likely don’t want to bring kerfoot back. I think Toronto would have a better time trading for DeMelo.

My boy relax you traded a 1st and a really good prospect and Holl (who can still play) for 20 games of a taller Tyson Barrie. Your trade is worse than Dubas with the Foligno trade.

I always love jumps in "logic" like that. "Well if those two players are better then their entire team should be far better." grin

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. There’s a reason why a hockey team consists of more than two players lol.

Kerfoot is criminally underrated, Copp is fine but he's nothing special.

It's more about how all depth players in TO are crap according to everyone on this site. Kerfoot is terrible and yet he's somehow outscoring so many of the 3rd line grinders everyone says is better than him.

Klingberg is a hell of a lot better than Barrie. He's been to the cup final where he was a beast. He's an absolute top 4 defenceman who has looked bad for only 2 seasons which also coincide with the change of system that prioritizes everything Klingberg isn't. Put him in TO with Muzzin and both players benefit. Klingberg moves into a puck possession system and Muzzin gets a major lift off his shoulders since he won't have to do everything on that pair.

I would likely prefer Severson but he would cost a lot more.

I haven't seen anyone call them crap, I've seen people say they weren't needed, but not crap. Plus some people realize there is more to hockey than just points when comparing players.

Copp is criminally underrated. Kerfoot is fine but he's nothing special.

Well to be honest I think both are just depth guys that don't really move the needle. A 1 for 1 is fine but beyond that, I don't really see one being much better than the other. Neither move the needle much.

Both are decent middle six players that can play up the lineup if need be. The main difference between the two is contract. Copp is a pending UFA and kerfoot imo is overpaid.

It's becasue Toronto's top end players are some of the best in the league.
Matthews and Marner are top 10 NHL players. Nylander ( who i have disliked, game has been much much better ) and Tavares whi is declining is stiill an outstanding 2C.
That's what is making Kerfoot and Guys like that better.

Dillon is much bettre than Dermott, Copp and Kerfoot is a wash so I would not give up extra assets for that to lose Copp next year.

Oh and Holl is 30 ( not young ) and declining, as is Muzzin.
