Do they really need to go out and pay for a smaller version of Achan who is small to begin with? Bigger needs, pun intended.

Just sign Jordan Harris from NE, for free.

If you were at the garden last night, you would know what I’m talking about. This guy is so freaking good.

I saw the game. He was. It’s also just 1 college game. And he’s still 5’7 150.

Hes undersized for sure. I doubt he’s 150 anymore, that smells like a listing from junior. Not only does he have those wheels and the obvious skills, that dude understands the game at the next level. I think he’s an NHL player.

I don’t doubt that. But Boston has a pile of lightweight d men already. And while that was the rage, still proven that the team with bigger physical d men usually wins in the playoffs.

Waste of assets to pursue him in a straight up trade. Multi player deal that he’s a part of as a secondary piece would be fine.

Who is on this pile? Achan, who isn’t an NHL player, and Grizz?

Berglund. Clifton. Langenbrunner. Berg and Lang have some height so they can grow into their frames and add some bulk.

My guess is they pursue Harris.

They already have 5 LD for 3 spots next year. They have logjam of 2nd and 3rd pair types as it is. Barring trades or signings he’d be at best 8th or 9th on their overall D depth chart right now.

He has just as much chance of being the next Victor Mete as he does becoming a top half of the D type, probably more so.

I’m not saying he jumps into the lineup tomorrow, but I could definitely see him taking the torey krug route. Three years in college, a year in the AHL, and then bully him way into the lineup.

He could be nothing, of course. The NCAA and the NHL are two different animals. I would take a chance though. I’m not saying trade a first or anything, but a reasonable gamble would be worth while in my opinion.

If Canes wanna take Achan, a year older, mitigates some risk as he has seen NHL and was not lost, sure. Beyond that, there are much better ways to use that 2nd pick.

I think you are thinking with your heart not your head. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why? I have no affection for this player. I just think he’s good.

To your original question - think the Canes would need something to help them now when trading a future (Fensore or others). Depth scoring forward or defensive depth…got any of that?

Still super confused as to how this is thinking with the heart.
