counters on the bear trade especially are welcomed. i might have gone short there, but im not sure what the story is with his low usage and poor performance.

The Sabres do need a RD, but idk that Myers is a good fit
I think they’ll be looking for a defense-first type player, who is strong in their own end
Also…. Myers only has 1year left
Not that they couldn’t extend him, but Myers could walk to sign with a better team as well
And i could see the Sabres wanting a guy who could pair with Power for a few years to mentor him, as opposed to having to replace a his partner so quickly

That’s a lot of words to just say “maybe”
But i think they’ll look in other directions first- at the very least

Myers does have two years on his contract, thus the kinda wacky retention swap. It gives us more immediate cap relief for the tradeoff of Myers being brought to a more tolerable cap. Myers and OEL have been very solid at 5v5 this year, and have been on the ice for some of the fewest 5v5 goals all season. Most of the bad rep Myers gets is for his first season here, as well as his hefty cap hit... something that is kinda irrelevant to the sabres.

One thing about the Rangers trade, it seems like the Canucks are interested in Kravtsov and not Chytil. Swap those two around and I think that could work

I disagree with those Canucks fans. I don't want Kravstov anywhere near this team. We can't afford another Virtanen.

My bad on the length of his contract- for some reason i thought he only had 1year left
So having 2years left is certainly better
But i still don’t think Myers plays the particular style we’re looking for to partner with Power
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s terrible in his own end
Just think we’d (at least) first look at guys known to be stronger defensively

So like i said before…. “maybe”

Not just fans, but multiple Canucks reporters have said they are interested in Kravtsov

@Wqrrior
Drop the fourth and I would make that Okposo for Myers trade.
Tyler would be Buffalo's #1 defenseman and maybe he would sign with Buffalo in two years.

Kravtsov has better hockey IQ than Virtanen it sounds like, I don't think Kravtsov is going to pull another Nikita Tryamkin, I think he wants to be in the NHL but hasn't gotten the right opportunity in New York. Plus the Rangers don't have a strong track record of developing forwards

How exactly would Myers be our “#1” ?
He’s not better than Dahlin
And he won’t play more minutes

That’s a crazy statement you’re making
It likely won’t take long before Power proves to be ahead of him as well

Well then i guess he needs to learn how to express himself better

And even if that is what he meant….
it’s highly debatable

Let’s say we did bring in Myers….
Then one could/should reasonably project our top4 to be Dahlin & Owen Power on the left, and Myers & Jokiharju on the right side
Since Dahlin & Jokiharju have developed some chemistry and are playing well together (Dahlin in particular has taken quite a step forward), I’d think that those guys would stay together

And that would put Myers on the 2nd pair with Power,
to help mentor him along & develop

Of course I should have said #1RHD, thank you for recognizing the obvious.
