I don't know I think Myers would be good pair with Reilly or Smith for this team.

Be able to roll 3 capable lines.

Avs already have a crowded roster and 4th line as is, not sure they will want another depth guy like Vesey. Any adds will be top 9 forwards or bottom 3 D.

Maybe Myers as Subban replacement (although I think Walsh is the most obviously guy to take PK's job).
But that wouldn't be who we are trading Zacha for unless they are retaining salary.

The Devils had a big improvement in Penalty Kill since last year.

2020-21: 71% (31st - last place)
2021-22: 83% (8th)

A big part of that was Jimmy Vesey. Just thought Avs could use him since they have moved in opposite direction on PK.

After the last 2 seasons I am tired of betting on young players every season. Hamilton, Graves, Severson, Siegenthaler, and Myers have all shown they can play well in the NHL. That leaves one open spot for Smith, Reilly, or maybe Bahl/ Mukhamadullin. With a chance for another spot(s) in case of injury.

Also, yes didn't mean Zacha for Myers 1-for-1. But the Devils will have Cap Space and if they can get more for taking on Myers, I think that he would be a positive for the Devils.

I see it as a horizontal move. Overpaid Right-handed Defenseman, but I favour Myers over Subban since I think he is more defensively sound than Subban.

I just checked the stats and the Devils have been bottom 6 for Goals Against for the last 4 years. I'm not saying go back to the neutral zone trap, but I think more emphasis needs to go better defensive players.
