I think you've got the right idea on track with Kakko, and I appreciate the thought process here I just don't think the Sharks would deal Timo right now for anything less than a beyond massive overpay. I'm talking Laf, a 1st, AG+ which would make no sense for the Rangers.

Youre not retaining Strome if you pick up Scheifele and Meier. Also just because those 3 guys were first round picks, doesnt entitle us to use that as a measuring stick in gauging trade value.

A scheifele deal would have to include Schneider. I know NYR fans don’t want to lose him, but that’d be the starting point for Scheifele.

All I know is NYR need both a C and a RW which is why I went after Meier as well and why I added Kakko since he does have the potential to still be a very good forward. That Buch deal did mess them up and I knew it would even had Blais stayed healthy as the RW depth isn’t that great.

I like Kakko and I’m a big supporter, but the rest of the trade isn’t good value. We already have a youngish starter potential goalie who is inconsistent in Adin Hill. We don’t want another overpaid defenseman that will stop us from playing young players. Robertson and the 2nd are meh at best.

What I would ask for Meier right now is: Meier for Kakko, 2022 1st, Nils, and Othman (or a mix of Brett Berard, Kravstov, and Dylan Garand).

The Scheifele rumour is largely a creation of YouTube. It was the host of a daily Winnipeg sports talk show going on a rant when the Jets were in a nosedive prior to Maurice leaving the team. I haven't read any of the TSN insiders or beat reporters saying that he is being shopped.

The only parts with any real value going to Winnipeg are Lundkvist and the 1st and that isn't nearly enough for Scheifele especially if you want the Jets to retain on an already excellent contract.

Sharks aren’t trading Meier if Schneider isn’t involved. Don’t need their 5th best D prospect, backup goalie, and a cap dump. Only decent piece is Kakko who hasn’t been great.

Wherever you get your Sharks rumors you should find another source. Meier not being traded, sharks dont need a goalie.

I’m not even sure if Scheifele is rumored to get traded. Just if WPG is out of playoff picture and if teams who want to buy call about a trade and ask for him, I would assume WPG would at least give NYR a price for him. Also, just my opinion and this could not be leaned towards you, Kravtsov is still young and is developing in Russia and it’s a league where older players usually get top minutes. I do think it’s more likely Chytil is a career 3C or RW, don’t think he’ll be a top 6 player.

I suspect given how ownership and management love Scheifele -- despite his defensive shortcomings -- they would probably give a price that the Rangers wouldn't want to meet. I'd give a price in the offseason, but I'm not in charge.
