I think if people completely ignored cap hits and viewed every players on ice performance equally would see that Bouchard hasn’t been much if at all better than Barrie. I’m huge fan of both players but neither has been helping the team win lately Bouchard has been making horrific giveaways in his own zone on a nightly basis. Vegas 2-3 minutes into the game put the puck straight on stones stick ten feet in front of smith. I’m high on both players but given what I’ve seen I’d have them both in the c list. Hopefully woody can correct this because they both have a ton more to offer than we have been getting.

Several of the veterans too he was behind the bench here when Todd ran the team so he’s very familiar with majority of the team.

Nurse is not a A. He has looked noticeably worse than last season. I’d say he has been disappointing.

Bouchard is absolutely not an A. He’s definitely given more responsibility and minutes than he should have been. But he is consistently out muscled and out battled. 2/3 games he’s directly responsible for a goal. He’s an incredible puck mover, but hasn’t shown any compete level in his own zone without the puck.

Puljujarvi deserves a B at least. He looked great the first few months. His last month has been abysmal haha. He literally has 2 assists and no goals in 2022. Like that’s really bad. But they also have new lines every other day so who knows.

I would also probably bump McLeod down one. His skating is so good, but he seems like a perimeter player who is scared to take it to the net. For a player who showed some grit in junior, he must lead the league in flybys. It’s very strange watching him fly around in the forecheck and turn away at every chance he has to finish a check. Same goes for every chance he has to take it to the net. Plays a little scared in my opinion. Hopeful he can add some of that into his game though.

Kassian should be in a category of his own… that guy legit hasn’t had an impact on a game since 2017.. the definition of calling it in.

I agree jp one up on yam but I’d go B &C.
Jp has been in a big slump for roughly 12 games now that would push him a bit down for me but wouldn’t find it concerning because he’s getting chances and doing things right just to be an A to me consistency is an absolute must. Honestly maybe Kane is the only true A at this moment just because he hasn’t played enough games to hit a slump and so far in very short sample his effort level has been excellent every shift the way the season has gone hard to blame players but I can’t say there is a single player that’s showed up for 75-80% of the games played everyone has taken nights off coasting. It’s been a weird season for this team.

Fully agree. I find with kass he wants to be a hockey player more than a grinding role player. He’s an amazing grinder when he’s committed to that. I’d recommend to any oilers fan to sit back and be open minded with him let the next couple weeks play out. When he was the fan favourite that was under Todd faded away fast under Tippett. Woodcroft coached and worked for Todd so his impressions of kass might be more in the direction of the better version of kass. If we can get that back this team becomes Harder to play against over night. Then again hes got a fractured jaw and not sure it’s reasonable on a human level to ask that of him right away upon returning. Clean slate seems fair

i wouldnt necessarily give bison and a, a b at max, he has been good before his cold snap, but still a step down from last season, and yams has been just average, hes basically on pace for the year he had last year or worse
