TDL possibility

Description
I doubt Buffalo would want to trade Thompson but this makes sense to me considering they’ll be looking to add draft capital and prospects at the TDL. Thompson would be a huge upgrade over Gaudreau and I think it could take the offense to a whole different level, it would also add some more size to an already big lineup. I’d be willing to bet Guerin would be okay parting with the 1st and Beckman considering how stacked the prospect pool is looking right now and I think the team actually has a chance to contend for the cup this year, Thompson could be a player that gets us over that hump.

Stage Thompson isn't worth a 1st round pick, much less Minnesota adding 1st round pick. He's a Winger playing C because Buffalo is lacking there. 1 good year playing a different position doesn't increase his worth

Thompson is not available. Rn he is 1st line center and his contract is unbelievably cheap. Even if Sabres were shopping him, which they would have 0 reason to do, I think the price would be more than a prospect and a late 1st

60 point pace playing 1c. He was a horrible winger now he's an elite center.

The Sabres aren't going to move Thompson. He is finally rewarding their patience with him by becoming a solid center. They definitely want more picks and prospects, but Olofsson or Mittelstadt would be more likely the guys they move outside of the expiring guys like Miller, Butcher, Hagg, etc.

1 year doesn't increase his worth. If we are going to be realistic, Hartman is doing the same thing but better. Casey Middlestat would be worth this

I don’t think it would be, just because he’s one of the best players on one of the worst teams in the league doesn’t make him a star. Also his sample size is tiny.

Dude…. No offense, but this trade BLOWS for Buffalo
Beckmann isn’t a great prospect by any means. Heck, he’s not even a “good” one
He’s ok- not saying he sucks
BUT
Why would we possibly want him over Thompson ?
Thompson is young, and signed for another year (at a cheap price), and STILL an RFA when his current deal is up
And oh yeah, he’s finally developed into a pretty good young player for us who is PRODUCING in the NHL
Beckman isn’t even doing great in the AHL

The late 1st you add in is nice, but not at the expense of a good young player for us
PLUS…. We already have TWO other late 1sts that we got from Vegas & Florida

Sorry…. but this just makes ZERO sense for us
Yes, we’re rebuilding again
But that doesn’t mean we are gonna trade away young pieces that are working for younger pieces that are still total question marks
No way dude

Two years from now they’ll have to pay him big bucks to play for a team that likely won’t be contending for a cup. What would you rather have a 1st round pick and good prospect that will likely turn into an NHLer? Or another 3-5 years of a good center that isn’t getting you guys any closer to a cup? Yeah he’s a good player but his talent is also being wasted. The future in Buffalo is not now, its 3-5 years from now.

There is no reason for BUF to do this. A late 1st that in a few years may or may not turn into a better player than TT + Beckman (boom or bust prospect).

1. They have no idea if what TT is doing right now will continue
2. Buffalos shot at a cup begins in 3-5 years, not now
3. Because of reason 2, it would be smart to add 1st round picks and prospects
4. What’s the point of keeping a good player around if your cup window is years out, why wouldn’t you trade him for futures?

In 3-5 years TT is a vet player on the team and still not old. You build around the good players and add the kids to them as they are ready. Tuch, TT, Dahlin, Cozens, Mitts (maybe), Cozens, Quinn, Power, Jokiharju, and Krebs are something you can build with. They won't be great overnight, but you can make a core out of those players to be good together when they are all 22-28 years old.

See what you have and who fits where and who doesn't fit before shipping off your RFAs just when they start to show signs of life.

If he turns into a guy we have to pay big $$$ to,
we can trade him then for even more
OR
We can pay the good young player & be HAPPY we have him

You’re making a horribly dumb argument
Should we just trade away every good young player we have then?? 😂😂😂

Maybe we can just add in Dahlin & Power,
and u can give us back even more mediocre pieces
Gtfoh with that nonsense dude

Will we trade Vets?
Of course
But rebuilding teams don’t just dump good young players

It’s NOT happening
ZERO CHANCE

And still under 30

We have 3 1sts this year, 3 2nds the year after. Just had 2 firsts and 2 2nds in the past draft. Have maybe the best prospect pool in the NHL.

We aren't moving Tage period

Buffalo isnt gonna to trade a 24 year old center who's on pace for 60pts. He showed flashes last season and has been even better this year.

Well I don't think you are well informed about his value or availability at all, seeing as you persist that he is available. I guess Kaprizov is available too? Probably only worth a 1st, decent prospect, and a cap dump since he's only had 1.5 good seasons.

I'm not as enthralled with Thompson as most Sabres fans are. I think the Sabres are unlikely to move Thompson at this point, our centers are not overly talented (I do like cozens), nor are they particularly deep at the position. Thompson also has the size to be more of a power forward, something that usually takes time to develop, and something that we don't have much of on the team. I think, and I'm in the minority here, that the prospect would need to be a solid right d, a position of need, for the Sabres to consider moving Thompson.

TBF Hartman was traded for a 1st+ when he was about the same age as TT.
