Vegas’ cap and injury situation is a bit tricky…so who knows if they really do need to make room once Eichel does arrive. But in any case this is too much for a rental. Can live with the 2nd and 4th…but not Barron. If NYR need to include a prospect to make this deal- anyone higher in the NYR prospect pecking order than Pajuniemi or Gettinger is an overpay….and NYR prospect pool is weak in the C position, to give up Barron- who looks like he might settle in as either 3 or 4C.

This should be a fall back trade in the event a deal for Pavelski or Giroux falls through. The thing is Smith doesnt have a NTC so Vegas can trade him to highest bidder.
