Idk if they do but kind of hope they do as something needs to change, don't see Copp as part of the problem with the Jets but change is needed, these forwards as a group clearly aren't working, would get a 2nd at least for Copp.

I personally think the Jets can get a 1st from a team that's expected to make a deep run (like Colorado) or a 2nd and decent prospect.

Seems reasonable and in line with the OP's proposal. I think Behrens might be a little too much here with the 2nd. His stock is rising quickly.

Would Winnipeg be interested in Compher? I know it's not super exciting, but it helps make the cap work and provides a useful bottom six guy for another year. Something like Compher and a 2nd? Or Compher, 3rd, and Kaut?

Idk if they pull a first for Copp, good player for sure but rental, any contender team he’s probably going to end up on third line, possibly 2nd on some, I think 2nd and decent prospect is what to expect here. And I think it makes sense for jets to move him, make some room for off-season, he’s going to get small raise, are they going to want to pay that for 3rd liner, I think he’s probably worth it but jets need to shake things up a little

I think a guy like Behrens is probably too much, he's having an awesome year, I'm thinking more of a B level? I don't have any specific guys I can think of right now though who would be good targets though lol.

You know what, I never thought of Compher but not a bad proposal. Would help the Jets bottom 6 and is a right shot (something were missing). I like the 3rd, Compher & Kaut proposal a lot man!

A first might be wishful thinking, I agree a 2nd and prospect is probably more accurate! I love Copp and would love to keep him in the fold but I think a shake up is necessary as well. Might as well get something instead of risking losing him for nothing.

well Behrens is a really decent prospect. a 2nd and him really does seem fair, especially if there is some sort of retention needed to make the avs cap hit work. like a 1m or so.
thoughts?

I wonder when TSN will add more to the Trade Bait board. So far, they have made one list (December 8) and there are only 10 names on it.

I agree could be worth moving him, maybe he even resigns with jers in off-season if they really want him back, not sure if Colorado is the team to take Copp though, I think they definitely kick the tires and consider it, BOS or NYR are probably more realistic contenders for trade don’t see FLA or CAR going for him, WSH maybe but doubt it, west coast is still so up in the air there a few teams that could be better fits then COL I think

Yeah I mentioned above that Behrens is definitely too much, guys having an unreal year. I liked the idea of Compher, Kaut & a 3rd that was proposed earlier!

Copp would get a 1st easily from a contender in my opinion. Coleman and goodrow both got 1sts, and copp’s production is more than comparable to Coleman, who picked up a very good prospect and a 1st.

Based on the fact that goodrow got 1st and a low prospect, and the fact that Copp got a 1st and a high prospect (2 years term), I think copp ends up somewhere in the middle. A 1st and a mid prospect seems reasonable.

Kuat sounds like a solid player.

Wheeler (The Athletic, Jan 21, 2022):
5. Martin Kaut, RW, 22 (Colorado Avalanche/Colorado Eagles)

At this point, we know what Kaut is. He’s a diligent 200-foot player who works from below his goal line and above the puck to support the play and help guide it in the right direction. For what he lacks in talent, he makes up for in the way he plays. He’s a versatile two-way forward who tracks back consistently, uses his 6-foot-2 frame effectively in board battles and puck protection, and plays to the interior with and without the puck. But average foot speed and skill have always limited his upside, forcing him to play smarter and harder than the opposition to be successful. He’s at his best retrieving pucks and pushing play to the middle lane as a utility player for more talented linemates. At the AHL level, he has begun to become more of a driver and top-of-the-lineup type. At the NHL level, he’s going to top out as a reliable bottom-six guy.

Pronman (The Athletic, Sep 21, 2021):
8. Martin Kaut, RW, Colorado-AHL

Oct. 2, 1999 | 6-foot-2 | 176 pounds

Drafted: No. 16 in 2018

Tier: Projected to play NHL games

Skating: Below-average
Puck Skills: Average
Hockey Sense: Average
Compete: Average

Kaut was a near point per game player in his third AHL season and got a few games with the Avs. He has offensive talent, he can make plays and he can score goals in the hard areas. He’s not going to run people over, but he works hard off the puck and can force pressure on opponents. The skill and particularly his speed won’t pop, but he does have enough flashes of puck skills to think he can create at the NHL level. I wavered between giving his skating average or below-average, it may depend on the night I see him, but given I leaned to the latter I think he’s more likely a bottom-six forward in the NHL who plays every day.

we cant be using Goodrow and Coleman was predecents of this player should get a 1st bc they got one....both were signed for cheap the following season and Tampa over paid so they can have those cheap cap hits on the books the following season in an effort to keep their team together

Coleman had 20 goals at the deadline as wel. Copp is a good player but he makes 3.6m and is a pending UFA. You Coleman goodrow trades are not comparing apples to apples bc they had term and cheap cap hits

The NHL comparable for Kauts ceiling is probably Donskoi. Just a good middle 6 winger who is responsible defensively, can PK, and had a decent shot who can score you a few goals

I have to go with Coga on this one, contracts are very different, term left on Coleman made him worth more, and goodrow was definitely an overpayment, and really all goodrow got was a first anyways rest of trade nullified each other and like coga said the first was really only cause his numbers were good with a sub 1m cap hit

Trading Copp wouldn’t be seen as a change, it is simply maximizing his value if we are out at the TDL. Same could be said for Stasny or any rental for that matter. I truly believe that the problems lie with 55 and 26. Now moving one or both of them would be a shake up/locker room change, which I’m not against at this point.

Highly doubtful. Petry is either having a down year or is declining hard, either way too much risk with that contract of it’s the later.

Same with Schmidt... same length.. and Gally is better than Copp and Copp would request at least 5M/y
FYI Petry with a awful team as +/- year better than when is was hitting 40pts/sz
