Fiala WAS struggling. Now he has Boldy by his side and has a 9-game point streak where he has scored seven goals.

wasn't aware that he went on a hot streak, ty for informing... however doesn't this also make him harder to fit under the cap?

Well, he is arbitration eligible, but we'll have to see how things play out in the summer...

I could actually see Montreal doing it. Dvorak isn't working out as planned (IMO it should never have been expected that he would put up better numbers than when he was in the desert) he is just not an offensive player lol. Both have about the same value and both are on relatively the same contracts. It's a lateral move where we give up the younger player but it could really benefit both teams.

You can't evaluate Dvorak in this mess. He was putting up the last 4-5 games before he was injured. For me I'd give another shot next year at Dvorak before abandon on him. Like u said hes the youngest one.

If nothing else, I want Habs to stop coming out on the older end on trades with huge age gaps. Especially now that we are no longer trying to force Price and Weber Cup chances.

I was never a Dvorak fan and think Pageau is the better player, but Montreal looks like they're rebuilding. It already sounds like they're looking at moving players Pageau's age. They already have almost no cap flexibility. Pageau is older, more expensive, has an extra year of term and has a pretty restrictive NTC. That's a stupid trade for a team in Montreal's position to make.

Actually, there is an interview with Hughes where he says Price is untouchable and the most important player on the Canadiens roster. What I gather from that is OF Price wants to stay there won't be a rebuild.

What do you expect him to say when Price has a huge contract and a full NMC? Not to mention the off ice issues Price if going though this year.

Im sorry but any gm with half a brain would not make thaf deal. You could argue that they are similar players as we speak right now (even though imo dvorak has been slightly better and thats on the mess the habs are right now) but you just gave up a first and second round pick for Dvorak. You don't trade him for a guy who is smaller, older, higher aav and longer term on his contract. Even if the habs weren't in rebuild/retool mode they wouldnt make that deal.

If we are planning on rebuilding, I would expect him to say that Price is a great player and person and we are exploring our options with him. By saying he is untouchable that declares that he is not available and we are in turn not rebuilding.

With a full NMC Price isn't available unless he wants out. Add Price not playing at all this year is makes him unavailable too. No team is going to pay anything for Price right now. It's too large and long of a contract to take a gamble on him until he is playing again.

Even still you don't word it as he is "untouchable" that makes teams that may have interest think he is unavailable.

And reporting from insiders is that the Habs are getting ready for a rebuild and Gorton just said in an interview that they're seriously considering a rebuild. Habs can rebuild with Price.
