Quoting: Sicarius
You obviously have some trouble with reading comprehension. You are the one that claimed he is an offensive defenseman. I said he can do it all. Now you are insinuating I said he’s a shutdown defensive D.
I’ve been a hockey fan since ‘80. I have no clue what you’re trying to accomplish by saying Tampa and the Blues have won recently.
You show your complete ignorance about Provorov. He’s a legitimate #1 D and can in fact do everything asked from a top D. I doubt if you’ve ever seen him play outside of Blues games and if you have it further shows your incompetence in evaluating NHL players.
It's not a claim it's literally common knowledge that he is. Ask any Flyers fans lmao. If you think he's defensive defenseman you think that yourself almost no one else thinks that ever.
He plays #1 D minutes, but it doesn't make him a number 1 D just like for Krug in STL. Just because he's a top pairing defenseman on the Blues doesn't make him any less of a 3 through 4 defenseman at best. It's simply based on the team's depth. With Sanheim and Yandle behind him yeah you can say he plays as #1 D in Philly doesn't make him that good. Provorov is not Jaccob Slavin, Charlie McAvoy, Victor Hedman, Alex Pietrangelo, Shea Theodore, Drew Doughty, John Carlson, Seth Jones, John Klingberg, Miro Heiskanen, Cale Makar, Adam Fox, Matt Dumba, Jared Spurgeon, Kris Letang, Roman Josi, Dougie Hamilton, Adam Pelech, Ryan Pulock, Aaron Ekblad, MacKenzie Weegar, Mark Giordano, Christopher Tanev, Noah Hanifin, or Hampus Lindholm. Some of the guys I named I wouldn't even consider 1D. This is based on the advanced analytics I can pull so you don't pull the bull**** of when I go by my eyes. "Oh well you don't have anything to prove this or that, and you have a bad opinion"
Just to be clear. Just because you have been a fan of hockey since the 80s doesn't make you more knowledgeable because clearly because he plays in the D zone makes him more of a defensive player than an offensive player to you. He's all offense. I don't even think I should bring up the fact that over 20 goals have been because of his poor defensive performance or his giveaways. That would just send you into a complete whirl wind. But hey I guess watching Boston make minced meat out of Philadelphia when Marchand single handedly ruined the Philadelphia D core (mainly Provorov) scoring a hat trick means nothing to you because if it doesn't help you win an argument it doesn't matter correct? How about how he lost the game to the Stars and you know his own good play that game oh let's see a GOAL. Yes because he's an offensive defenseman. How about the poor defensive performance against Buffalo losing 6-3. How about how he was on the ice playing no defense at all and lost to Columbus last thursday. I watch more hockey than you think but since I don't fit your narrative of thinking it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter all that much though you have the Facebook Blues fan logic written all over you. Good day.
