Well flames obvs dont take that… you think lehkonen will fetch a 1st???
The problem with Lehkonen is that Montreal should keep him if they are only getting a 2nd. He'll still get that as a rental next year, so no reason to move him now unless they are getting more.
My stance is that we don't move him for less than a good prospect, preferably C or RD.
So you can have him for the right prospect, but if you don't have that or prefer to use a pick to acquire him, you're getting close to a 1st to make Montreal consider it.
Reasonably, the options could be:
- A late 1st or early 2nd
- A good prospect
- A late 2nd plus a decent prospect
- A late 2nd plus a late 3rd
In order to close any gap in value, Montreal can either retain, take back a contract, or add a pick.
You also have to consider the possibility of a bidding war and putting your best offer on the table.
If you are only thinking about Lehkonen, and aren't willing to go at least that far, you probably don't want him badly enough.
Try to take all that into consideration, then decide whether he's someone you want to pursue.
