Someone will have to overpay to acquire him since he is one of the favorite in Mtl, great guys, outstanding work ethic, Great teamates, love by the coach since he can fill any role in the line up and he is still rfa after this season. So the opinion on him seem to be that the asking price is to high but the fact is he is a very good bottom 6 players that every single team would like to have in their line up. So yes someone will have to overpay to acquire him

Looks fair value for Miller. I doubt that gets you retention though. Miller at 4 mil next year is probably a top 5 contract in the NHL. Rangers could actually do this trade as a real rental, as in rent him for THIS year and then sell next year in the offseason/draft and get a 1st and a prospect back. Which I think might be in the Canucks best interest to just wait for next year.

Maybe. If that's the offer then I think there's a good chance Montreal just keeps Lehkonen.

He needs to be resigned, and there is a good chance he will not want to stay.

Lehkonen is an RFA after this season.

He can be qualified at $2.3M. Arbitration is a factor, but you have walk away rights. Worst case, he's a standard rental. You're outbidding multiple teams, including Montreal. A 2nd isn't going to work because Montreal keeps him for next year if that's the best offer.

Well then Lehkonen stays in MTL for another year and gets scooped up for nothing later...

Or he stays in Montreal, they offer him his QO, take him to arbitration if needed and he gets traded next deadline.

I'd personally prefer that unless there's a solid prospect coming back. He can still return a pick next year. No rush on Montreal's end.
