Fletcher wants to be aggressive and retool

Description
Some Notes:
-Overall this team appears to be refusing to do a full rebuild
-I think they'd let DeBrusk walk at the end of this season, his QO is way too high to justify
-Fletcher mentioned wanting to add top end talent and having a "blank check", so I think he will end up trying to spend huge on Gaudreau

For some reason Fletcher seems to prefer avoiding draft capital as a return as much as possible. I think in this instance instead of going for a 1st round pick as the main piece in the return, he goes for Barron as the main piece of the trade

Boston is not including a 1st in that deal.

Don’t really see Sanheim as a fit for them anyway. Maybe if they move Reilly in a separate deal. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Braun would be a better target.

I don't know Boston's exact situation, but I'm not sure I really agree.
-At this point DeBrusk doesn't have value. He isn't going to help a contender, and no team is going to match his qualifying offer.
-Sanheim has been able to eat very big minutes and put up shockingly good analytics on this tire fire Flyers blue line. Not to mention he has one more year of term and is still relatively young (he is 25 right now)
-He has history playing LHD and RHD
-Looking at Boston's current blue line, I'd say he'd be there #3 behind McAvoy and Carlo, who are both natural RHD. Comparing Sanheim to the LHD group, it seems like he'd slot right into the top pair, whereas Braun would be the extremely clear 3RD

I'm not sure Martin Jones can provide what Mikko Koskinen hasn't been able to; both have had strong runs on occasion, but proven to be unreliable over their careers. The Oilers might appreciate the extra cap space headed to the TDL though.

Wrong on Debrusk. Boston would prefer to keep him. If he’s still with them after the deadline they will give him his QO. Be dumb not to.

As far as their D goes. They have 3 guys signed with term. And Urho and Zboril have outplayed them when put into the lineup, they need slots next year which means trading away LD as is.

Sanheim would slot in at top pair over what they currently have, no question. But it’s no longer the pressing need it was at the start of the year. Center is far more pressing and where they need to concentrate.

And 1st/Debrusk is out of the question. Could a deal be worked out. Sure. That’s not it.

Why are people trading van Riemsdyk to Ottawa? Not interested.
