Why would Philly want either of those players?

So the Flyers get: a guy Boston's been trying to dump, a seeming bust in a deep draft, and a late 1st round pick?

If Boston was trying to dump Debrusk he’d been gone already. They have had offers. They want to keep him. He asked for a trade.

If he is so good why does he want out and the coach is publicly throwing him under the bus? Why haven't they jumped on these offers?

Him wanting out has nothing to do with talent. Nor does his relationship with the coach.

Last 2 months 16 games. 4g 4a. Not far off the production he had first 3 seasons. Playing well, hard, creating chances, going to net, playing d, even killing penalties.

It’s the lazy fan that looks past what he’s done and what he brings and purely looks at 10 months of dealing with concussion, depression, Covid 3 times, battling the coach, forced to play out of position, demoted after adding Hall and saying….that’s who he is. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm not saying "that's who he is" I'm saying the Bruins do not have a lot of leverage/he isn't as valuable as he would be. I take no pleasure or anything like that in his struggles and not trying to dump on him, I apologize if I sounded like that. Depression, COVID, and an unpleasant relationship is a pretty taxing experience. My point is just that, the other teams know that and will use it against Boston.

Which is why he has not been traded. They have been steadfast in the idea that they would try to accommodate his wishes but they won’t take a bad deal just to move him. Leverage is a 2 way street. Boston has little leverage with other teams. Debrusk has none in this scenario.

Oh yeah he absolutely has the least. My point is mostly that I don’t think the Flyers would want him as the central focus of a return for Giroux.

I’d say the 1st is the central focus, with Debrusk the secondary piece. The rest is trash. Looking at the past and what similar players went for as rentals, Debrusk is more valuable as second piece than B-/C+ prospects. But if Philly is truly rebuilding mediocre prospects would be more appealing.

True the 1st is the starter though. I just wonder if a team could outbid them (Colorado, Minny, NYR, WSH). Not sure if the last line is some sort of dig but I've meant no disrespect.

No dig, just a question of where/what Pihiily sees as/looking for value. A known commodity or mediocre prospects.

Generally a return for a rental like him is a 1st and mediocre prospect or 2. Where do they see value? Would they rather the cheap prospects hoping 1 pans out. Or go with an established player still at RFA status. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Everyone can outbid Boston. They have no farm depth, can’t afford to trade the few decent pieces they do have. Should not be considering moving a 1st for rentals. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Boston needs a center, Philly is dog **** and have a good one in Giroux, that's a pending UFA. Boston needs to move money out and Debrusk has asked for a trade. It makes sense and Jake is still a young player who's been a 20 goal scorer. 1st round pick is the focal point with Debrusk making it work financially. What value do you put on Debrusk though? Maybe a third? So it's like a 1st and a 3rd for a rental. Senyshyn asked for a trade too, so whatever, I threw him in there but Boston may have to upgrade him to a higher end prospect to make it work, especially since they'd have to retain 50 on the deal. Don't think it's too far off though.

Not sure why you are quoting this. This was a discussion with someone else about Debrusk. I never commented on the trade value itself. 🤷🏻‍♂️
