Just cause you dont need them doesnt mean theyre invaluable and you just toss em away for a player were likely not going to resign. You might as well swap the 2nd to a 1st and offer it to Philly for Giroux who will without a doubt be a more impactful player for this team then Lehkonen. And if youre still included to get Lehkonen the 2nd alone might get it done.

Well, I disagree that Lehkonen is a guy who isn’t likely to resign. Which is why I don’t see it as the waste you describe.

In a vaccuum I’d agree a 2nd alone would have a good chance at getting it done but Lehkonen is higher in demand. I see it taking the equivalent of two 2nds.

Some pundits say Colman type of return I think closer to a Savared or Pageau type of return something like 1st +3rd or 1st + good prospect that the Rangers have an abundance of with no room. Like Kravstov or Lundqvist even if Montreal has to add a 3rd.

No. Those pundits compared him to Coleman in the sense that Lehkonen is one of the most coveted players, which will net Montreal extra value. That doesn’t mean he gets you two 1st round picks.

Blake Coleman returned two 1sts. It sounded like you were expecting the Canadiens to receive the same package but they won’t. They’ll get the equivalent of two 2nds instead. If you’re lucky like the Sharks were with Goodrow, you’ll get a single 1st at best.
