Niku is on waivers because he sucks defensively and we do NOT want our goalies to be left out to dry

The hit itself was dangerous at face value, but if you watch the clip it's pretty clear Spurgeon didn't intend to bash him in the head. Spurgeon has his head turned towards the net the entire time, I don't think he even knew Dvorak was next to him. Spurgeon is also an incredibly clean player, he's been in the running for the Lady Byng trophy for 7 years. Guessing that's why he didn't have a hearing, but if he had been suspended for a game to send a message to the rest of the league I wouldn't have been too surprised.

Hope Dvorak is alright, you never like to see guys get injured.

Intent has nothing to with with result. Very few players INTEND to high stick someone in the face, but it happens. And they face the consequences. Intent in this instance is irrelevant.

At this point I think we'd probable just want Dvorak to stay away, get better and not injure himself anymore. This is a lost season so might as well give some younger guy his #2 C position and see what we've got.

I agree for the most part. I think for suspension cases the league takes intent into account more than in-game stuff like high sticks, hooking, etc. but like I said, I wouldn't have been surprised if he had received something like a one game suspension.

Spurgeon is also 5'9" (being generous). He'll get the benefit of the doubt (if his skates are on the ice) because everyone is bigger than him.

I don't think there was any ill intent or anything. It looked like an unfortunate happenstance to me. I understand MTL fans being pissed. If something like that knocked JEE out I'd be seeing red also.

I can't say I'm ever surprised by the league handing out suspensions or not. The DoPS is as consistent as goalie interference calls made by the officials.

Sorry but having a major ankle surgery is wayy more sad than the difference between 0 and 100 bucks, unless you are a kid obviously. The pain the surgery and all that is way worse, I don't like ottawa but I rather not gain 100 bucks than break an ankle, I'm sure it's the same by you, unless you are a teenager with no sense

A 100$ fantasy pool will net 1000$, which is a weeks worth of work... So considering batherson will have the best doctors tending to him for his rehab and is making 5million now even while not technically doing his job is much more privileged than myself.
