I'm not a fan of moving both Pavs and Klinger at the same trade. Feel like we could get more by dealing them separately.

I'd also hate the idea of them being moved to one of our biggest rivals, those being Avs and Blues.

That all being said, the return is pretty solid actually. Dunno if I'd take it, but I've seen much worse offers.

You could do much much worse than what amounts to three 1st round picks, a roster player, and the possibility of a 2nd. There's also zero chance Joe ever makes this move

The way I have it broken out in my head is like this:

Klingberg (50% retained)

For

2023 1st
Justin Barron
Ryan Murray

and then

Pavelski (50% retained)

For

2022 3rd Round Pick
Oskar Olausson
JT Compher

Sucks not getting a 1st for Pavelski, but I think I'd take the deal simply due to the fact that both Barron and Olausson are in the deal along with the 2023 1st.

Agree with the sentiment, but correct me if I'm wrong, Colorado doesn't even have their 2022 2nd Round Pick anyway. It got traded to New York in the Devon Toews deal, so Colorado can't even offer that condition on the pick.

I'd still take the trade (don't see it being offered), but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy thinking that Colorado didn't have their 2022 2nd.

awesome face

Honestly though if Avs were ever to deal with Dallas I'd want them to pay premium. This would be it.

Literally this is the type of trade that is a pronouncement that this is the year because you are emptying the cupboard in that trade. Top forward prospect top d prospect 1st rd pick meaning no 1st rd picks until 2024. Avs would be crazy to do this trade.

Not only kill it but elongate the ability to add quality talent until 2024.

No, you're right. It'd have to move to the 2023 2nd in that case and who knows if the Stars would go for that.

@Xqb15a You two think they can afford to wait? I'm not saying the window is closing, but everything changes after this year. Kadri and Bura both gone, and with the Mack extension inbound, things will get tighter. I'd go for it if I were Joe. Not saying I want to deal both Barron and Olausson, this trade is nonsense in my mind, but I think we have to make a splash and go for it.

You’re talking about emptying the cupboards for RENTALS. 3 1st rd picks equivalent and 2 roster players for a guy 100% is a rental in Klingberg and a 37yr old Pavelski. Then what you’re done. No way to acquire new assets because you have no 1st rd picks, no TOP prospects, and still have a bunch of guys to sign. Klingberg is straight over kill you’re paying top pairing d man pricing for a guy not playing top pairing, and you’re not keeping him. If you’re unloading that much assets you can’t be making it all about a 1/2 season run especially when the Avs are still like the 12youngest team. It’s bad asset management, and tell me the last time a team loaded up that hard and won, TB repeating and giving a 1st for Savard doesn’t count because that’s not even at 1/3 the price here. Coleman doesn’t count because he had multiple years left on his contract: I think it is an immensely foolish idea. You pay your scouts and development teams and young players literally millions of dollars to dump the last 2 drafts and the the 2023 draft away for a half season run. So yeah not a fan.

See the post you quoted. I said that this trade is nonsense; I'm not trading away three first round picks for rentals. A 1st + Behrens + JTC for Giroux? Yeah, I'm on board with that all the way.

My bad, ummm yeah I think good GM’s asses their team and if they do it right barring injuries you shouldn’t have to do big adds, but add around the edge like TB. I think you’re core is in place, and this team is getting better, I don’t add a big ticket item. Yeah I’d be all over that Giroux trade too.
