Washington is going to want Konovalov. I'd be fine with that too.

If Caps get another goalie I can certainly see them accepting this.

This deal makes 0 sense for Edmonton, Vanacek is hardly an upgrade for what you have now, why give up a good young goalie prospect and a 2nd for somebody who is slightly better than Smith(and this could be a bit of a stretch.)...

The deal makes all the sense for edmonton. Vanachek is an RFA and has potential edmonton could keep both skinner and vanachek on the roster next year with smith.

The good established .918 goalies unfortunately all play for good playoff teams nobody is trading them.

But does it really?? Why do you think Washington who is also in need of a goalie would do this trade, and Spoiler alert they are higher in the standings, aging a bit more, so they're more likely to go all in this year and try win another cup, and their brass is more disappointed with Samsonov and his progression that he would be the expendable one.. There's more to it than just trying to acquire an ok goalie, people need to see it from the other end of the spectrum too, this is not Chel and can make deals by pressing the L1 button after highlighting who you want from their team hahahha...

Edmonton is limited on what they can spend on a goalie next year due to mike smith's contract and have had issues attracting free agent goalies. They have to find somebody who fits under the cap and might develop into a .918 goalie ie a younger goalie with potential because they can't just go and sign one and nobody is trading established goalies.

talk about things that just aren't true.

The fans may be anti-samsonov, but nothing in the organization signals that WSH has given up on him.

Vanecek is better than the options that Edmonton currently has. He can be a bit inconsistent at times, but has shown that last year was not a flash in the pan, and would be a solid upgrade for Edmonton.

Also wtf are those controls? L1 to make the deal? that might be the most wacky part of your tirade.

I would assume that Vanecek would end up being dealt for Fleury (unfortunately), but I don't think that Washington is actually looking to make a deal. We've seen reports of the Capitals "looking into" players for year, but nothing ever happens. If Fleury is traded to DC, and VV isn't sent back, I would expect Washington to hold onto him. If they are set on trading picks instead of VV, I would take that as a vote of confidence in his abilities. It's probably best that happens anyway, as Fleury is gone at the end of this year and VV works well in tandem with Samsonov.

Ok we will take Samsonov instead. But Washington will never ever do that.
Furthermore you answered your own concerns. Washington is going to go all in RE Fleury.

I believe (unless I’m going crazy) that L1 would be referencing the PlayStation version on the NHL 22 game.

I hope you were able to see my full feedback. I would also agree with Zmach that the Capitals would likely want Konovalev in a VV trade.
