Way to much is made of this.

The QO only matters if A - it’s offered and B - it’s accepted.

Now go look around the league and see what 25 year olds with an 82 game average of 21g 42pts make. 4.4 is not unreasonable. Not deserved at this point but his ceiling is higher than his QO. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well now, that's rather misleading. His performance has fallen off a table the last two seasons. Undeserved is unreasonable. Same basket. And nobody is paying extra for "ceiling" in a 25 yo that has lost his game. Well... maybe Buffalo (or perhaps more aptly, whomever hires Jason Botteril next). tears of joy

I'm sorry but the B's can't expect to get a star player at the TDL without moving Lysell and most of their 1st's and 2nd's. Simply not going to happen by sending mountains of average pieces and 4th liners. Bruins prospect pipeline is flat out awful, they should be considering replenishing that. Even Lysell isn't a high end prospect

The last 2 seasons barely equals a full season. He’s played 75 games in that span. 11g 16a. He’s also dealt with concussion, depression, covid 3 times, fighting with coach, forced to play off-wing out of necessity where he sucks, demoted after Hall trade losing PT and better linemates. His play as of late has been really good, creating chances, even playing D, given PK time.

As far as the QO goes, it depends on who has him how it will play out.

His current production puts him at a 2 to 2.5 type of slot. His career totals are right in line with his QO.

What would be worse. Giving him the QO, him accepting, and getting the same production…for 1 year. Or letting him walk, getting nothing for him and watching him put up 25 for someone else?

From Boston perspective, the scenarios are:

No offer, he walks, lose him for nothing.

QO, he accepts. It’s 700k raise for 1 year to see if he bounces back.

QO, declines. They retain matching rights. Can sign him for whatever. Or trade his rights to someone now that the QO and 4.4 are off the table.

There is really only 1 losing scenario there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

An aquiring team has another option, an extension before the QO at lesser cap hit.

Boston can’t do both.

The asking price for JT is 1st and RHD top prospect. Boston does not have one. NYR has Schneider and Lundqvist so they can afford to move one and a desire for JT. I think this is a foregone conclusion. Boston would have to beat that offer. 1st/Lysell/extra piece….to much.

Chyc is going to cost 1st/top prospect/young roster player.

1st/Lohrei/Debrusk is reasonable but Debrusk has no value to Zona as an RFA with a bad QO. 1st/Lohrei/Studnicka. Decent. Gets beat though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

LMAO he was ranked around the top 10 in many draft rankings and fell because of "character concerns" that turned out to be nothing. He leads his team in goals and is 2nd in points...as a rookie

Funny to see a Sharks fan say he's not a high end prospect when anytime a Hertl trade comes up the comment is "It starts with a 1st + Lysell"

Obviously bruins and sharks aren't good trade partners for Hertl but if we're giving our best player, your best prospect is the only sufficient return. Sorry but lysell is not a high end prospect, simple fact.

Lysell would be our 4th best prospect behind Eklund, Robins, Bordeleau and he's probably behind Gushchin and Coe too.

High end= Power, Beniers, Johnson, Eklund, Wallstedt etc. Lysell does not belong in that conversation

LMAO anyway you want to spin it.

Robins, Coe & Bordeleau are all 20yrs old and Gushchin is about to turn 20yrs old. The fact that Robins, Coe and Gushchin are dominating in junior hockey with teenagers isn't impressive. Bordeleau is playing on a stacked Michigan team. Why are you bring up Wallstedt (whose a goalie) when talking about forwards?

Good new is your user title is accurate

cheers

Lysell has very below average numbers for the last two years. Robins, Gushchin and Coe are still in juniors simply because of the cancelled Covid season. Many analysts have called each of them the steal of the draft.

Im not saying Lysell is a poor prospect - he's good but he is not high end.

Drop the LMAO thing, it makes you come off as snarky and immature. Fair advice.

Your takes on other teams players and prospects are considerably off. Unless superstar or elite prospect you always go way lower than their actual value while your take on San Jose players is the exact opposite. That is the very definition of a Homer.

Nothing wrong with that. You do you.

But it’s comical to watch your take of two players of the same value one on another team and one on SJ and see how wide the gap you seem to think there is.

Lysell is probably behind Coe as a top prospect? Brandon Coe who was drafted in the 4th round? THAT is thick headed.

Lysell does not belong in the conversation with Eklund as a top prospect? Did you ever stop to think why Eklund slid to San Jose at 7? He's a good prospect but far from perfect. Did you know that his next goal this year will be his first? He's played over 20 games.

I know you strive to uphold the bias of the San Jose Fan Club but a little objectivity would go a long way on this forum.
