Description
I've come up with a number of big swings over the past few weeks that I'd love to see trades based off to try and tackle organizational issues for the red wings.

Most got mixed reviews in the trade machine, so we'll see how they get taken here.

Minnesota makes sense for a potential destination for Bertuzzi - both due to their cap constraints and their division being likely to be without a Canadian team (meaning its likely not even possible to play one until the CF). He's the exact kind of player you want in a playoff game.
Transactions
1.
DET
  1. Fiala, Kevin
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (MIN)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (MIN)
Détails additionnels:
Can't afford to pay fiala with 12m dead cap + the next 3 seasons. Need to go for it while they have Kaprizov. Bert has 1 year left, and at retained, they get a top six 20+ goal scorer to go for it these next two years for only 2.4m. Bert also plays a grindy style suitable for playoffs.

Wild also pick up a top 4LHD for the playoff push this year. With retention on each, they come in under fiala's current salary.
MIN
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler (2 375 000 $ retained)
  2. Leddy, Nick (2 750 000 $ retained)
2.
DET
  1. Dach, Kirby
Détails additionnels:
Its fair to say both Zadina and Dach have struggled to live up to their expectations in current environments, and despite similar games played (as of the weekend of jan 22nd, 124 and 118) they have very similar points per game with 48 and 47 pts respectively. Both have struggled to fit into their systems and earned the ire of coaches, ending up on the third line. A change of scenery may be in order for each.

Both are top ten picks with relatively high ceilings, and though if you redrafted they'd both fall down a bit they are still top10 talents in their drafts. A change of scenery may be in order to properly develop them. In this case, because Dach plays centre, detroit needs to add the second.

Zadina would fit really well with the more high-flying hawks system compared to low event Blashill hockey.
CHI
  1. Zadina, Filip
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (DET)
3.
DET
  1. Provorov, Ivan
Détails additionnels:
Provorov has not lived up to expectations in Philadelphia either - despite being given a 1D's contract at ~7m, he has not developed into one, leading to him being overpayed by about 2m.

If Philly decides to blow it up and rebuild their team - which seems likely after the 13 game skid, they will need picks and prospects to reach out the other side.

Though the contract is definitely an overpayment, detroit is in a position for the next few years that this won't negatively impact them. A former first round pick, Veleno is young and developing into a NHL centreman with middle six potential, while Sebrango is an intriguing defensive prospect on the left side. These two will help to build up philly's young player/prospect pool in the immediate term while they also add with the picks.
PHI
  1. Sebrango, Donovan
  2. Veleno, Joseph
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (WSH)
  4. Choix de 4e ronde en 2022 (COL)

Wild decline. I get the Fiala for Bertuzzi thing going on, but adding a 1st and a 2nd makes no sense for us. It's an overpay for a marginal upgrade, at best, at a position of strength. We could use those picks to upgrade a weakness like the centers.

When I first went with bertuzzi retained for fiala straight up, I was told that minnesota definitely needed to add (and that was before adding leddy (which is where the 2nd came from)). If they *were* to trade fiala for a retained bertuzzi, what would be the add? Or is it just not there even with the dead cap issues.

As great as Bert would do in Minny with Hartman, they’re going to pass. Just too rich of an ask for the Wild. Maybe if you dropped the 1st?

I don’t think the Hawks are ready to give up on Dach, and with their team as a whole not going anywhere they have lots of time to be patient still with his development.

I think Philly will ask for a 1st, rather than a 2nd in that trade. As insane as a Provorov/Seider Edvinsson/Hronek top 4 would be, I don’t think we’re giving up a 1st just yet.

I like the outside of the box thinking though. Fresh ideas should be more welcome on here

If we had to add anything to a Fiala for Bertuzzi swap, I would decline immediately. Wingers, especially top-6-ones, are not something we need to add/upgrade so it would be bad asset management to throw away picks or prospects.

Well thats what Veleno is there for - he is a former first round pick and developing nicely into a middle six centre. I think if philly wants a 1st for the next 2 drafts for provorov they'll just keep him - it will be hard to convince other teams to trade for him with the overpayed contract. The 2nd is also a high second since its from us, but maybe its not quite enough still.

Likewise, I don't think det management is ready to give up on Zadina yet either - not before they can pair him with someone who can actually pass or score like vrana. But I like proactive scenery change trades.

Would bert and leddy retained for fiala and a second bridge that gap if the wild intend to go for it this year before cap hell kicks in? The left side doesn't look particularly strong and I assume you'd rather the 1st get spent on a center then?

Brodin-Dumba
Goligoski-Spurgeon

The Wild are set for our top 4 D needs already. Why on earth would we need Leddy? For reference, Goligoski leads all defenseman in points on our roster. Leddy isn't going to play over him, and he definitely won't play over Brodin once he comes back. Which will long be before the playoffs.

Leddy, bluntly, isn't a need or something we would want. The fact he's "One of us", is immaterial and means nothing.
