JT Miller Trade Deadline

Créé par: Randominoe
Équipe: 2021-22 Canucks de Vancouver
Date de création initiale: 25 janv. 2022
Publié: 25 janv. 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
From my perspective, these teams are getting JT Miller for this season's playoff run and the entirety of next season while paying him 1/3 of what he is likely worth on an extension. Therefore I believe the asking price should be the equivalent of two first-round picks, a second-round pick, and a later-round pick (4-7).

I could be way off base on that evaluation but I am basing these trade offers with that in mind, and the teams are based on Frank Seravelli's tweet yesterday on which teams are showing the most interest in Miller at this moment.

On top of that, Calgary would be charged a division-rival tax so their return is closer to two first-round picks and two second-round picks in this post.

Excited to get your feedback everyone!

Boston's is alot less than the rest and the most realistic IMO.

Ya, i just don’t think anyone is doing that. Maybe the rangers actually

The bruins definitely don’t even consider that. Trading their top two prospects, a first, and a second for a guy that really is a winger is just not on the table.

Incorrect. Lysell and lohrei are very good prospects. Rangers is the most reasonable.

Fair enough, I was just basing it off the stats I could see on CF, wasn't sure of how highly Rossi was valued but it makes sense as he is PPG in AHL and one step away from the NHL.

As I said in the description, I based it off the SN650 tweet of Seravalli putting the Rangers, Wild, Bruins, and Flames as teams most interested. I will do a second one with Capitals equivalent of the value I put on Miller.

I could see Fiala or Greenway being involved since both need new deals next summer and Vancouver would probably like a roster player coming back. Obviously something else would be offered, depending on who is the roster player going out. With Fiala, I could see a pick or a prospect that isn't Rossi (Khusnutdinov makes sense imo but with his KHL deal Vancouver might want someone they can add to their roster sooner). Greenway would require more but if Vancouver gets competing offers from other GMs to drive the price up, my hope is Guerin stays away. While the Wild could use a center to go with Ek and Hartman to give them a solid 1-2-3, that's a steep price.

Lysell and Lohrei are on par with NYR prospects yet NYR does not include a 1st but Boston does. OK…sure. 🙄

I absolutely love Miller and I really want him on the Wild but if Seravelli is correct and the asking price is a top prospect + a 1st, I imagine we'll be out on him. A lot of us view Rossi as the #1 center we've never had, and honestly we can't trade him at all (in my opinion) since he still has 3 years on his ELC (which slides to next year if he plays fewer than 10 games this season) and we're going to need that to get through the worst years of the Suter and Parise buyouts. I just don't know if there's a "top prospect" we can afford to give up for Miller. Wallstedt should be our goalie of the future, Boldy has looked unreal, already covered Rossi, which leaves Lambos but we have a long-term need in the top 4 for a LHD. If the Canucks are willing to take someone like Hunt or O'Rourke, then I could maybe see that, but they are more "good prospects" than "top prospects". That also doesn't address the fact we'll need to move out cap next year for Miller, which is a whole different discussion...

        Now for reality.

1st/Lundqvist/And a 3rd or 4th. That’s the type of return it will end up being.

I'll explain myself here, saw Lohrei was picked in the second round so replaced the second-round value with him, with Lysell taking up the first-round value already which left a first-round pick and late-round pick in my evaluation.

Problem is Fiala has looked awesome with Boldy and ideally we'd be getting Miller to put between those two. I was definitely in on the idea of moving Fiala for Miller earlier this season, but now I'm a lot more hesitant. He probably makes the most sense to trade though for cap implications. I'd rather trade a defenseman like Hunt or O'Rourke than Khusnutdinov, but I'm also biased because Khusnutdinov was my draft crush that year before we picked him.

        If it's Greenway, you're probably looking at Greenway + 1st round pick + Hunt/O'Rourke

If we trade Miller - Defenceman have to be involved plus picks

        Boston - Carlo

        Minnesota - Hunt

I totally understand, as I mentioned above I was absolutely shooting for the moon with these but that's where the negotiations should start from the Canucks point of view especially if we have this many teams interested.

        If it's Greenway, you're probably looking at Greenway + 1st round pick + Hunt/O'Rourke

If it gets the Wild 2 playoff runs with Miller, that's probably fair assuming you mean Hunt or O'Rourke.

If we trade Miller - Defenceman have to be involved plus picks

        Boston - Carlo
        Rangers - Schneider
        Minnesota - Hunt
        Calgary - Valimaki

Rangers seem to value Schneider higher than Lundkvist so that's why he's in there.
Lohrei is a recent second-round pick defenceman who is PPG in the NCAA this season.
Johansson is in the SHL and was more a third-round pick value if I recall correctly, but another young defenceman.
Poirier is PPG in the QMJHL as a defenceman for the Flames.

So I did keep young defencemen as a need in mind when creating these.

I'll explain myself here, saw Lohrei was picked in the second round so replaced the second-round value with him, with Lysell taking up the first-round value already which left a first-round pick and late-round pick in my evaluation.

Where players picked are irrelevant. Kaprizov was a 5th round pick. A year or two after the draft he was seen as 1st round value.

Lundqvist is 5’ 11” 185 lb RHD puck mover. 4 pts in 31 games between A and NHL

Lohrei is a 6’4 200 ib LHD puck mover. 22pts in 26 games in NCAA - obviously lesser competition. Makes it tough to compare.

I don't disagree with you, I just didn't dive that deep into it when I was putting these together is all I'm saying.

I appreciate that you have provided the insight though!

No worries, my issue was with the blatantly uniformed individual who said Boston package was a lot less than everyone else.
