LA isn't looking for a defenseman that hasn't cracked the NHL yet. They want a guy that can jump in and play first pairing minutes right away.

Copp will be getting a first if they sell, might not be Boston but a team will pay.

He is a center/wing with 30pts in 37 games that's on a very cheapcontract, teams will pay.

He’s a .5 point a game player, on a decent playoff team he’s a third liner, he’s a depth piece rental, no team is giving a first for that, maybe maybe with you retaining a mil. Someone might go from a second to first but no way your getting a prospect with it

Huge Copp fan here... I agree that a 1st alone would be a great return for him. There is no way that we get a 1st plus despite the fact that he is the type of player that wins games. Does all the dirty work and now that he's finally getting moved to play with skilled players is filling up the scoresheet too. I hope we find a way to keep him but IMO if a team offered up a 1st for him and we weren't looking like a playoff team I'd accept it and be happy.

I like Copp but I'd rather the Bruins not trade the 1st for a rental unless its for someone of the Giroux/Hertl/Pavelski calibre and Copp isn't there

I think you can get a 1st for him easily though with that cap hit

I think the issue is you’re underrating Studnicka. That’s almost two first round picks going in Winnipeg’s direction.

With the season he is having, honestly jets should be trying to get a first for him, like I said with a little retention, possible for sure, definitely won’t get a prospect with it though. And he would definitely make a playoff team better, I just don’t know if the fit is with the bruins, he’s not our answer to the 2C issue and that’s about all they need for forward group, an issue that should of been addressed this off-season not at the TDL where premiums are high

I don't understand some of these moves. I get Copp and Stas as rentals if we aren't a playoff team.

I also get moving a LHD or 2 in hockey trades as now we have JMO, Dillon, Stanley, Heinola, Samberg and Chisholm that are all looking like NHL quality.

However if you are moving Scheifele, that means you're doing a rebuild, so you should be focusing on moving Dillon, not Heinola and Stanley. You also should look at retaining $3M on Wheeler and moving him as well.

If you bring back Schneider, you should be looking to move DeMelo, not flip him over the left side.

If you wanted to move these players I'd suggest:

- Copp (50% retained) somewhere for a 1st
- Stas somewhere for a 2nd
- Look to do a prospect trade for Schneider where we trade Wheeler ($3 M retained) and a left D prospect (Heinola) for Schneider, Kravstov + 1st
- Trade Dillon to LA for a 2nd
- Trade DeMelo to Arizona for a 2nd

Keep Scheifele or if you trade him with that value contract you either need an absolute haul or to add to him to get a better Center. Otherwise you might as well trade Helle too and burn it to the ground.

The Scheifele trade. No real interest in Barron. Be better to get Chytill since you’re moving Scheifele, Copp, and Stastny.
Drop Lowry to the 4th C and put Chytill at 3C.
Also, if possible, try for Gauthier so you improve your RW depth.

27pts, but even still there's a red flag here. 27pt in 37gp puts him at 0.73 pace, which is 52% higher than his average over the last 3 years. This makes me wonder why has his production suddenly increased. A quick look and I see his top two linemates this year are Ehlers and Scheifele. That's a massive upgrade over his two linemates from last year (Appleton & Lowry) where he posted a 0.44 P/GP.

So unless the team acquiring him puts with equally good talent, it's likely his production would fall off.

He did spend a lot of last season with Stastny and Ehlers, the Canadian division sucked though.

The only reason Copp has had god awful stats offensively was because he was saddled with Lowry who can’t score to save his life. Given an opportunity and he’s been great the last 2 years.

That's fine too, but I think you'd rather have Barron as a potential 3C over Chytil. Chytil has a bigger offensive upside, but on year 5, that ceiling is start to lower. Barron, while not in the NHL, is a big boy, and has potential to be a solid, well-rounded middle 6 guy (a great Copp replacement)

Ehlers was 4th among his most common linemate and Stastny was 5th.

His Top 5 teammates and TOI with at 5v5

1. Appleton (373 minutes)
2. Lowry (311 minutes)
3. Scheifele (211 minutes)
4. Ehlers (204 minutes)
5. Stastny (134 minutes)

^not sure I'd say he spent "a lot" of of last season with Stastny & Ehlers.

We’d need ready now kind guy, as this is our window(ish) and we have C prospects to move up in the next couple years.
I like the big body aspect though, but Barron doesn’t help now.
If we were looking at taking a run in a few years, I’d be all over him though

Right so he's really only as good as the linemates he has. IDK many teams that are willing to give up a 1st for a guy whose A) a rental and B) not really a line driver and depends on high end talent to produce. To a team like Boston (and probably most contenders barring some injury) he'd be on the 3rd line.
