???? Sure a team can have 6.115m in bonuses. But in 21/22 a team has 80m in regular cap and 4m that was actually spend on bonus, then their total cap is 84m, 3.5m over the 81,5m limit. Then they have to pay back 3.5 from the cap in 22/23. So instead of a 82,5m cap they would only have 79m to spend in 23/24

This is really flying over your head. The bonus cushion is COMPLETELY SEPARATE from cap space.

If your cap hit is $79M and you have to pay $4M in bonuses, your final cap hit is still $79M. If your cap hit is $79M and you have to pay $7M in bonuses, your final cap hit is $79.8875M because your bonuses costed $887.5k more than the maximum.

I read the difference scenarios for the bonuses. You seemed to skipped down and missed the important part of the bonus cap implication. Here it is,

"Performance Bonuses are paid out following the season. The bonuses are added to the final cap hit for the year that was just concluded, and if that total including bonuses earned exceeds the salary cap, the excess is a bonus carryover overage that is a cap hit for the following year."

Certainly all teams that pay to the cap would bonus structures in so they would pay to about 6.1m to give an additional cap EVERY year. This doesn't happen.
