this is the year they go all in? Kadri, Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Francouz, and Kuemper are all 2022 UFAs. The goals against has gotten better and they have been amazing on road. NAK looks like a decent waiver claim and has played better in COL than in Philly. MacKinnon has scored more goals recently after not finding the back of the net often early on. Kadri has had a career year. If he stays healthy, Cale Makar could reach 30 or more goals if he keeps up his pace. Devon Toews is a sleeper Norris pick. Erik Johnson has been good after missing almost the entire 2020-21 season. Byram has been great when he is in the lineup. Jack Johnson although still terrible, has looked better than he has in the past few season. I feel like they will finish 1st in the Central and West due to their insane home winning streak. Although Nashville, St Louis, and Minnesota could be battling for 1st in the West and Central til the final week of the season. I feel like they would avoid getting upsetted by the 2nd wild card whether it be Dallas, Winnipeg, San Jose, Edmonton, Calgary, or maybe even Vancouver. I trust that they can beat whatever Central team they face in the second round. I don't know if they would be able to defeat a Vegas team with Jack Eichel ready to go. Vegas does have medicore goaltending. The only concern for the Avalanche is goaltending. They had been playing some 80s hockey for a lot of the season. They would score a lot of goals and allow a lot of goals. Their GAA has been better, but you need to have a great GAA to win the Cup. I think Kuemper is capable of putting up numbers that could help the Avs win the cup; however, I could also see him put up mediocre numbers that could cost him. Same for Francouz. I don't think they make any moves at the tdl.
