They should trade all their youngsters for good young players on great contracts . Example the Chychruns and Debrincats of the world. The development just sucks

Yeah Chychrun too with his 2 goals in 29 games. Not a particularly good way in analysing players 2022. Surprised you didn’t mentioned his +- too.

He’s still young with star level potential + a 1st and Kravtsov is a massive overpay for a good but overrated Chychrun/Crouse.

I said it from the start. I get the whole take the BPA but when you’re stacked at the position you’re picking, sometimes there no room for him to get mins. Byfield or Stutzle at centre or even Raymond at RW would be getting way more minutes and production rn.

Chychrun is a defenseman on one of the worst teams in the league while Lafrienere is a former 1st overall pick who was supposed to have a "breakout season". Chychrun literally got Norris votes last year as a 22 year old defenseman on a bad team. And why would I mention his +/-?

The issue with the Laf pick wasn’t only that NYR already had a logjam at LW, but rather that he wasn’t skilled or talented enough to go in the first round which was well known for QMJHL viewers before the draft. He was never a guy who could dance around opponents or go end to end, most of his production came from outworking the opposition physically to give himself space. He plays his best in the dirty areas & net front, these players usually need a few seasons to get used to the skill and intensity of the NHL. So it was just a brutal pick all around.
