Zary is probably our 2nd best prospect. I’d much rather ship him off for a better player like hertl, debricant, etc. not undervaluing brown.. just wouldn’t move Zary for him. But agree he’d be a great addition

I wouldn’t trade Zary for a rental like Hertl if I was you. The only that deal could work is if San Jose takes Monahan as well and Hertl comes with an extension. That would be a great deal for both teams. San Jose can also pump Monahans value and flip him retained

I think you are overvaluing Zary. He's the Flames 4th best prospect ( Coranato, Peltier, Wolf) I don't see him as much more that what Dube is now. A middle 6 player with some offensive upside. Connor is an upgrade on Dube, on a reasonable contract and you get him now. Plus we know he plays well with Mangiapane.

Maybe I am. I think he’s going to be a solid top 6 guy. More so would like to use him for a bigger name.. but as flames fans we know that wont happen haha

Definitely think you’re overvaluing Zary. He’s a good piece but realistically you’re hoping one day he turns into something approaching what Brown is. 50 point pace last year for Brown, 60 point pace this year. Plays pp, pk and you already know how lethal he is with Mangiapane after they tore the WC up together. Plus he’s not even a rental, you get two years of Brown???

Yah I don’t think I realized how good brown was playing. I think sometimes we are at fault for overvaluing prospects. As flames fans we are sick of sitting idle, so I shouldn’t complain about moving him

Obviously Browns not a flashy piece like Hertl but he’s solid and you get 2 years instead of a 1 year rental. Maybe they let Gaudreau walk in the off-season and 1 year of Hertl makes more sense than 2 years of Brown because they’re trying to rebuild. Definitely some pros and cons depending on what Calgary’s trying to do.

I like adding Brown, but with the hype around Zary, would rather move a 1st and a B prospect and use Zary to get a better player.
