This is more for the forum, should the bruins be thinking about trading Ullmark? What’s your opinion? Threw this together quick just to get discussion going, EDM gets better goalie, honestly solid enough to take them through playoffs if they add some defense reinforcements, bruins get out of Ullmark contract we don’t need, gives chance for sway to backup and resign rask one more year after this season then worry about tandem for swayman backup after that

I have no idea why they signed Ullmark to begin with. It's not that he is a terrible goalie as he is decent, but with Swayman primed to take over, it would have been nice to allow him to play more games at the NHL level. So on that theory alone they should move him. that being said, given how many teams have some goalie issues I think you can get a little more than Mikko who is pretty bad and UFA.

No, not until the offseason. If Rask decides to hang them up, we wouldn't have anyone else.

I agree with you, I also started “armchair-gm” conversation about it where I broke down my reasoning for this trade a little more in the comments, link:

Seems to be more disagreeing with this trade over there though

I broke down reasoning little more over there, I touched on rask return also over there, but don’t feel like re writing everything again

Its a tough one - many will say opt with the devil you know and in this case paid a hefty chunk of change to get (Ullmark) vs letting a rookie take over. Rask had the benefit of playing behind Tim Thomas and being allowed to develop which probably helped him vs taking over the full time gig right away. That being said, there are ample goalies that can split duties that are good that dont cost as much as Ullmark.
