It's so hard to tell what dmen are going to get this deadline. The rumor is the ask on Chiarot, who's as mediocre as they come, is a 1st + more, so if that's the case then Gio will certainly cost more especially with retention. In a bubble I think if you upgrade the prospect a little you have a fair deal.

That Chiarot ask seems absurd to me - I dont think using an asking price as a comparable makes a lot of sense. Theres not a lot of recent rental D men trades that returned a 1st + prospect like this at the deadline so I based this one off of the Savard deal. Savard was double retained (3.1875M total retention) and TBL gave up a 1st + 3rd + 4th and also got back an AHLer. In this deal theres pretty much equivalent retention (3.375M) and since Gio > Savard I added Bowers instead of the depth picks

wouldnt shock me if that was the price, but it always feels high until the deal is done. I never thought blake coleman would have gotten a 1st and Foote, but here we are.
I do like the add of Gio, he would help the PK so much

Gio at 50% is IMO worth a 1st and better prospect. Bowers, with all do respect, is a bust of prospect. The shine of being a 1st rounder has worn off. I'm not saying you need to swap him out for Barron or Olausson or anything like that, but I think Ranta or Foudy would be more appropriate. Gio is a game-changer.

I feel like maybe Jarnkrok would, too. I wonder if they offered something like Kaut, Bowers, Compher and a 1st could they get both with retention enough to make the money work.

I think Jost is going to be moved at the deadline as they load up. I just get that feeling.

It's a possibility. He'd be enticing to a team like Seattle perhaps but I'm not sure exactly what they're doing - nobody does, not even Francis. I'm interested to see what Joe does; IMO, they should focus on defensive play; forget about adding a goalie, target guys who are solid defensively and can play the PK competently.

i agree, goalie isnt required as long as they are healthy, if 1 is banged up a bit then thats a different story
A middle 6 winger who can PK and a RHS Dman who can PK and is physical on the 3rd pair....as longs as both still play to the avs identity of good skating players as well

As long as he takes care of those 2 depth adds, I like their roster going into the playoffs

I'd trade them JTC for Jarnkrok right now; get him in and get him playing with the team
