Avs fans whats your thoughts on potentially not having Byram going into a playoff run...

Is Girard - E. Johnson or Girard - Murray a competent enough 2nd pairing for a cup run?

Just some quick options that came to mind didn't think through how real each potential trade would work.

My personal targets would be Chiarot or Gio, both solid defensively and Chiarot was a beast last year in playoffs.
Klingberg is probably the best available but has a similar playing style to Girard and wouldn't be on top PP anyways with Makar being there so may not be the best fit.

we dont know anything about Byram, so cant say if hes out for a playoff run,

Chiarot is the last guy I would trade for, he is not good. His underlyings are awful, he cant skate or pass. He just cross checks and stands in front of the net being "a warrior"
Gio would be decent, Miller as well

Klingberg would cost too much to get, not really a need bc he doesnt PK and he wats 8m aav. not worth it.

IMO Lyubushkin would be an ideal pick up for a Dman, cost will be right and fills the role and need of theirs

Very true I could see Gio extending 1 year 2 million or so just to stay around a good team and good group of guys

Out of those probably Giordano. Cheap enough to acquire and ideal for a cheap re-signing for a veteran pairing with EJ.

Your biggest problem will be with assets. You have no 1st or 2nd this year and a rather barren pool of prospects behind the obvious high tier ones.

I honestly think Buffalo keeps Pysyk as he’s one of our only defensive specialist Dmen and is a RHD. Miller and Hagg however are likely offered up.

As for Miller, ideally I’d retain 50% for a 2nd that can become a 1st depending on your success in the playoffs. However you lack a 2nd or 1st this year and trading a 23 pick on the results from 22 seems a bit unusual

Cost to acquire vs value:
I think Pysyk would be a suitable #6/7/8 for the playoffs and helps with the Avs needs

and Pysyk is more typical of a Sakic TDL pickup than the big ticket guys.
