Description
Does this keep them competitive?
That pick in the trade can very easily be 2022. I figure AZ already has 3 this year so might want to load up some for next year.

Minnesota isn't in a position to do this, nor should we.

I didn't even notice the free agent signings. That just makes this even worse.

The trade is certainly OK, but signing Rakell for just 4m seems too low. Hey maybe the wealthy Kessell signs for one year in home. state Minni for 4m

Kessel is from Wisco not MN. He also blocked a trade here, and at this point, MN would have no interest whatsoever.

Other than Rakell the free agent signings look ok. RR’s #s are not super so maybe he does not get a big contract. More term might be in order.

Minnesota has no interest in this! Minnesota let's suter go for a reason! They aren't trading pieces much less thus for a position they are stacked at, and already have money invested in alot. Also Minnesota doesn't want Wingers, so they won't be signing any

Except that you're not actually saving us any money with this, you're just shifting it around at the expense of Lambos and a 1st. And there's no reason to sign Greenway to a 6 year contract, he's one that should be moved to clear cap.

I do not think that they are stacked at LD. Maybe in their prospect system but not for current roster players. Not really sure why they let Suter go honestly. I would have kept him. Buying out Parise made sense. I get that they got a bunch of cap space this season and then lost all of it next season.

You need muscle to win in the playoffs. Ask my Bruins!! Chychrun is far better than anyone in the Wild system. He will be a top pair D for the next 8+ years. Signed for a low cap hit for 3 of those years in time for that buyout fiasco to come off the books. And he helps a whole lot right now. Not down the road when Lambos and that pick take shape. It’s a great trade.

No it's not, it's unnecessary and isn't the direction the Wild should be going.

They are absolutely stacked at ld on their current team! Rd is their weakness, not ld. So no , Minnesota has Absolutely no room or in the future for him, nor are they dedicating more cap to d!

It's actually not, because Minnesota has zero room
Jared spurgeon, jonas brodin
Matt dumba, alex g( yes, he's resigned for next year)
Dmitry kulikov, Jon merrill

I do not see an AG extension anywhere and that is a waste of cap space given he will be 37 next year. Chychrun is an instant upgrade and he’s 12 years younger. So is Minnesota looking to continue to be a perennial bubble Team?

They have a Brodin on LD. That’s it really. And two bottom pair guys on LD: Merrill and Kulikov. They can’t compete with the big guys without a solid top D group.

No, which is why we’re not gonna mortgage our future for a player we don’t need. We all know Chych is a good player, but a top 4 LD is not what suddenly vaults this team into perennial contender status. It’s not a fit and that’s fine, it’s not an insult to you that wild fans don’t like your proposal. It just isnt a prudent move.

Alex G agreed to a handshake deal for 2.5 mil for next year that our beat writer reported back, so yes he's coming back. Dmitry and merril have been good. No one is saying Jakub isn't good, we don't have room for him facts.

Ok. Great. But Goligoski at age 37 in your top 4 D group basically means you do not make it past round 2.

You are assuming because you want us wild fans to just agree with you! This makes no sense for us, and frankly you are just talking nonsense about age

Honestly does not matter to me if you agree or not. I believe that it will be tough for them to advance deeper in the playoffs without a competitive top 4 D group. Time will tell.
Agree to disagree?
