I understand you guys do not like it but it’s possible and realistic, whatever you say won’t change that COL could use an Elite goaltender & LA could replace Brown with Gallagher who have chemistry with Danault + Bergevin is there now

Frankly, I don't see how it's possible, considering that Kuemper hasn't been bad, mostly just meh. We also haven't seen what he's made of in the playoffs. We spent a 1st on him, and I think giving up such an asset just to replace him is incredibly wasteful and doesn't make sense when looking to the future.

As for Price, he's been pretty meh the last few seasons, the playoff run, while I loved watching him, was only 22 games. He hasn't played since mid-2021, and still has 4 years left on his contract. It'll expire when he's 38. I don't want to take on such a massive gamble.

Dont think hes worth a 1st. With a higher QO at 2m and only avg stats, thats a lot. Since you guys gave a 2nd to get Vanecek back, thats as much as I would like to see them spend.
Avs wont be trading Bura in season and I would rather just pay Bura than Victor O. He is a 1 dimension player, just a PP shooter. Bura has a heavy shot but is good defensively as well.

I’m just trying to get the band back together. Ovi and Wilson loved bura btw.

Except outside of last years playoff run Price hasn’t been elite. .900, .918, .909, .901 sv% the last 4 regular seasons. Throw in he is now rehabbing again the off season surgery he had, been in PAP for a substance issue, hasn’t played this year, has a monster contract and is 34 and COL will find its answer else where. Price isn’t the answer in COL.

Which of the below is more likely?

A: The Avs already traded for their guy and will stick with him despite a below average half of a season.
B: They abandon their plan and pay a huge price to acquire an aging goalie who hasn't played a single game this year, has personal issues, and is due a hefty salary for four more years after this one.

I don't view it as possible or realistic, and certainly not if it costs a top prospect plus other good pieces. I think Montreal fans are too attached to the fond memories Price provided. No one else is though.

here's the thing...price is not an elite goalie anymore. Saying he is doesnt make it true. He got hot in the playoffs last year, which was great story, but over the past 4 years he has been a below average starter in this league. Saying avs need an elite goalie is one thing...saying price is an elite goalie is another. Those 2 are not the same thing

you can have respect for what Price has been and how dominate he was and still call be realistic that he has declined rapidly as he aged. It doesnt take away from his legacy but call a spade a spade with him. He hasn't been very good for a long time, and even at 5.25m that is way to much for what he has been in that time. He is not worth the risk even getting him for free with his contract

I know it's fun to blithely spend someone else's money, but we're not paying Gallagher $23,5 million for the last three years of Anze Kopitar's contract while we're paying Kopi $22 million. (And then there's two MORE years on Gally's contract.) We have absolutely no interest in Gallagher with anything less than 40% retention. Since I doubt that such a condition appeals to your financial guys, I don't see a Los Angeles - Gallagher match.

Ok realistically, when is the Kings cup window? 2-3 years from now, right? Is that when you want Gallagher? When he is 32 and inevitably going to decline, signs of which he is already showing? Brock Faber and Helge Grans are great young pieces and riches from 3 years of a rebuild. Since the rebuild Blake has not traded any of his better prospects unless they proved they couldn't cut it at the NHL level. He even recently said he is not interested in moving his prospects until they get a fair look at the professional level of which Faber and Grans have had little.

Bergevin is with the team but he is an advisor, he is holding a spot until he can come back into a GM role, he can advise but that's it. Colorado could need a goaltender but Quick is playing lights out for a team he has pulled into 2nd place in the pacific division.

Let's say Brown retires, is the only place the Kings can find a suitable top-6 winger replacement is in Gally? The free agency class for next year includes: Gaudreau, Forsberg, Giroux, Perron, Rakell, Kadri, Nichushkin, Kessel, Carter, or Smith (who are all outproducing Gallagher) who the Kings could sign for a more friendly term without giving up assets. Which is in line with how Blake has done most business aside from the Arvidsson trade (which most people see as a win for the Kings).

Bergevin could convince Blake to go after Gallagher and there’s not only points. We all know it’s never been about points for Gallagher but grit & heart. Plus he can score goals. Giroux Gaudreau Forsberg Kadri are all 8M+ players, Rackell Kessel Carter aren’t better than Gallagher. Riley Smith & Perron are better targets but again, there’s gonna be a lot of team after them. Nichushkin probably stays in COL. You want have any grittier players than Gallagher in the ones you named. Like I said, I understand you don’t like it but it is a possibility

I think you are entitled to your opinion, sure. Gallagher is an excellent player who is in a slump but could easily return to form in better surroundings. Yes, he has past chemistry with Danault, He is a heart and soul player for sure.

But the fit isn't there for several reasons.

1. Danault is not struggling without Gallagher and has quickly adapted to the Kings defense-first mentality. It is Gallagher who is struggling with the Habs, and unless he turns it around his value is rock bottom. This is not just his scoring, almost every recordable stat is struggling and that is a big deal.
2. If Bergevin is involved he knows how to get the best in a trade, I think he'd suggest that the Habs retain in order to facilitate a trade, which I don't think they will.
3. Blake's rebuild was to make the team younger, faster, and stronger. This team is being built with the same large heavy-hitting but with speed for once. I think Gallagher's size will be an issue if his skill is on the decline.
4. Replacing Brown is much harder than finding a heart and soul player, Brown leads the league in career hits, has played with Kopitar almost his entire career, and wore the C when the Kings won two cups. The belief is that our next Brown might be in Vilardi or Turcotte. But in the interim, those are hard shoes to fill.
5. I think you have to admit that California is not only a good destination for players families, but the team is major market, and a robust prospect pool to make LA a potential long-term destination for players. This will be a preferred free agency destination as it has been when the Kings were competitive.

You might be right, there may be a way he comes here, but I frankly see no way Gally comes to LA unless Montreal is taking a big chunk of that salary or he turns it around and proves he is a 30 goal scorer, because right now the Kings 4th liners individually are on track for more goals than him.
