Pens definitely don't need Wideman and Hextall has been vocal about the fact the Pens 1st & 2nds are off-limits. I don't think they'd be a serious player for Toffoli.

I think you could keep a trade around Kapanen though. Maybe Kapanen, 3rd and a prospect?

Dont see the habs wanting to throw Norlinder in on top of taking back that salary. I know Pens are already right near the cap and need to move money out to bring someone in but i think the habs focus will be on shedding some cap as this guys return from injuries.

For my money, Chiarot and Kulak. I know some don't agree about the former, but I don;t think he's worth a '22 1st.

that seems like an overpayment for this season's toffolie. if it was during last summer i would've agreed with you but not this season.

Toffoli is worth more and probably comes without retention. Good prospect, 1st or 2nd depending on interest (and Pittsburgh wouldn't be the only ones in on him), and an unwanted contract coming back is an option. That's assuming he is even made available.

Chiarot's value as a 1st is because he's the most prototypical "playoff" defenseman that is readily available and his cap hit is fairly low at only 50% retention.

Kulak is a 4th or 5th, maybe with conditions. Retention might add to that, but I think that comes in the form of a low grade prospect or additional pick.

Allen returns at least a 2nd or you don't trade him. Market for goaltenders is better in the off season.

i don't think allen will get that much because of how the team as been playing and the fact that goalies don't hold a lot of value in trades. For me if he can fetch more than a 5th it's a win because you can let primeau pley in the big league with price as a mentor.

i know he isn't the most known player out there but he's been a great energy guy for mtl every game he played so i think a team in need of cheap grit could really be interested.

Montreal could get a 1st for Toffoli without reduction (and Widemen) so they reject.

I don't see Montreal trading Pezzetta. He brings heart and soul and toughness which is hard to find and hard to replace.

If we can only get a 4th for Allen, no point in trading him.

I'd rather Primeau stay in Laval and get most of the starts. He's proven he isn't ready yet and we have Montembeault who can play backup in the meantime. I'd rather hold off until we can get more for Allen.

allen is too good for a rebuilding team. and so i prefer having primeau playing 25ish games but with carey as a mentor, because we don't know how much time price has left.

That's why Montreal holds off for a better pick. No point in trading Allen for a 4th, we don't even know if Price is going to come back. He's still likely months away with no signs of returning. Price has stated he doesn't want to be a babysitter (which is a main reason we got Allen) so I don't think it's a good idea. Primeau's going to destroy his confidence playing behind this terrible team so I don't think it's good that he plays in the NHL.

he's been great every time he was called up so i don't think his confidence is gonna be a problem, but having Allen doesn't allow the team to be **** next season too and that is not on par with the rebuild.

Not a huge fan of bringing in Perreault, would rather call up one of Leason/Protas/AJF/Sgarbossa to fill any depth needs so we can see more of them before they get (or don't get) full time roles.
