Makar, Toews, and Girard are all very good defensively for the most part during the regular season (especially Toews), but against teams like the Wild/VGK Girard and Toews struggle big time because those teams are able to exploit their weaknesses.

They could use someone like Nick Jensen, obviously the Caps won't trade him , I think Demelo or Gavrikov would be good fits. As of right now I don't see the Avs winning more than a round.

Need some help with a trade idea I had

Been trying to figure out a trade for Ritchie thats similar to how Boston moved Backes.

The template for that was

A 1st
Low B prospect (Axel Andersson)
Backes (1.5mill retained)

What Boston got back: Kase who had (7goals and 16 assists) with 1.5yrs left.

In Ritchie's case I dont think retention is required but the question is who should we trade for. My idea was Crouse as he is a similar player and has similar point totals.

The other idea is just to do the simple

Ritchie + 2nd for 7th at the Draft to just dump him
